Hello, October!

Happy October, My Lovelies!  I'm happy to report that the landscaping crew is finally replanting our front yard/garden.  We're fortunate that the rain has finally stopped so they can work!  We've had to make a few adjustments to the original plan, and a couple of plants might not get planted until next spring, but that's okay.  It's been over six months since the tornado hit, so it has definitely been a process.  I'll post photos next week because they're not quite finished with the project as of this morning.

There will be no Literary Friday post this week, but I've finished at least three or four books lately.  I'll post mini reviews next week and a review of The Gathering Table next Friday.

I've fluffed a little for autumn, but today I'm taking out a lot of pumpkins to enjoy until Thanksgiving.

Here are a few of my favorite photos:

Early morning in the art studio

I have been elbow-deep in flowers lately.
This is one of my favorite early autumn floral arrangements.

Shabby chic bud vases and heirloom roses
These were the party favors given to the ladies at the bridal afternoon tea Shelley and I hosted last weekend.

Keeping it simple in the dining room
That's about to change!

Centerpieces for the tea party
The tables were large, round "eight tops;" they required large centerpieces.

See the teacup and saucer?

Breakfast room with pumpkins and acorns

Do you have any fun plans this weekend?  I might need to fluff our front porch since everything will look nice (hopefully) by this afternoon.

Have a lovely weekend!

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  2. Oh my, that arrangement with the teacup is fabulous! I really love your flowers. The pumpkin with bittersweet is beautiful too. I bet you're so excited with the landscaping being nearly finished! I can't wait to get mine going. I'm not sure I want to rip it out all at once or just trim some and leave until spring. I guess I'll see how overwhelmed I feel once I get into it all. Have a great weekend.

  3. I'm so glad you're finally getting your yard finished up, can't wait to see! Your home looks lovely with the pretty fall flowers and touches. The shower centerpieces with the grapevine tea cups are outstanding! I know you and Shelley must have had a ball hosting the shower. Big game today, my daughter's Ole Miss against my son's Alabama!

  5. The teacup centerpiece is fabulous. You do so gloriously with flowers. It's fun, isn't it? And relaxing and somehow feels very organic to create such loveliness. I love the art studio photos and your light. Kind of perfect, my friend.
