Welcome to The Bookish Dilettante!
This is where I share creative living with our daughters and my friends.
If you're looking for something inspiring to read, you've come to the right place. If you're looking for a great beach read, a selection for your book club, or a cozy mystery to enjoy snuggled by a fire, your search is over. I've done the work for you!
But wait! There's more! My reading and other blogs inspire me to try unique projects, and I will sometimes share them here.
I also love flowers...lots of flowers, so I sometimes post about floral arranging and other floral inspirations.
Do you enjoy creating tablescapes? Several times a year I participate in seasonal tablescape blog hops with other creative stylists.
Like most women, I take great joy in fluffing our home for my family. I like sharing home decor projects here on the blog, too.
Launched in 2010, I started my blog to share our family life with friends and loved ones who lived out of state (this was before the advent of social media). Little did I know that I would discover a community of like-minded and talented women in Blogland. I have learned so much from the dynamic women I've followed (and sometimes met in real life) via blogging.
If you love reading good books, celebrating the everyday, and a community of supportive readers, then you should enjoy my blog.
Let me tell you a little about myself:
I'm a breast cancer survivor, and I am eternally grateful to my medical team, prayers from friends and family, and God's grace and goodness.
I'm an artist, and my preferred media are oil paints, colored pencils, and silverpoint. A woman of few passions, I'm passionate about Christ, Chicago Cubs baseball, and Lake Martin, Alabama.
I've been married for 36 years, and we're blessed with two lovely daughters: one is a research scientist in speech/language pathology, and the other works for a Fortune 500 company.
We are all minions to our Westies Finlay and Mustang Sally.
Birmingham, Alabama is home.
NOTE: I am not very active on social media other than Instagram.
I hope you'll pour yourself a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy reading The Bookish Dilettante for a few moments!
