Maintaining My Bubble of Bliss

Wednesday, August 11, 2021

Happy Wednesday, My Lovelies!  I recently had an enlightening conversation with a very wise woman about how to stay sane during these extraordinary times.  She mentioned her "bubble of bliss," and I'd like to ask you:

How do you maintain your bubble of bliss?

That's the question of the day, LOL.  Other than prayer and Bible study, I maintain my bubble of bliss participating in activities that are not only enjoyable but helpful to others.  I like to support local businesses and makers, especially my local Indie Bookshop.  Last Saturday, Little Professor Bookshop hosted a flower truck: I had to go and check it out.

The truck has a name: Rosie!
This 1963 Ford Econoline is a pop-up flower shop on wheels.

The Wild Honey Flower Truck was parked outside the shop, and clients composed their own bouquets from the selection of stems displayed in the back of the darling truck.  I had so much fun putting together my bouquet, and most stems were three dollars.  The truck also does events around the area.  I'm thinking of maybe hiring them for an event if they're available.  :D

Here's my bouquet:

I couldn't resist the pampas grass and dark sunflowers.

I placed the flowers in a vase my best friend gave us as a wedding gift.  I still love it after all these years!  It's VERY heavy leaded, beveled, and even frosted crystal.

After our successful visit to the bookshop,  we decided to bake some cookies, but we were low on brown sugar.  However, I did have some Duncan Hines Perfectly Moist Strawberry Supreme Cake Mix, so I googled cookie recipes with cake mix and I found one that sounded very good....

I found this recipe on Fiona's blog, Just So Tasty.
I really love her blog, and I hope you'll visit and follow her.

  • Preheat the oven to 350F degrees.
  • Line 2 large cookie sheets with parchment paper or baking mats.
  • In a large bowl beat together the butter, cream cheese and eggs.
  • Sift in the cake mix and beat everything together.
  • Turn off the mixer and stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Use a small scoop to form balls and place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the tops are just set. Optionally place a few extra chocolate chips on top of each cookie.
  • Cool the cookies on the cookie sheet for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to continue cooling.

Cook's Notes:
Use regular, full fat cream cheese, not whipped, etc.
I used semi-sweet chocolate chip cookies.
A 15 oz. cake mix will work just as well.

My best friend made these with spice cake mix, and she really liked them.

  1. You know, identifying those things that put you in the bliss bubble is important! We definitely need as much of it as we can get these days. I can't get enough gardening right now even though it's blazing hot. :)

  2. The flowers are gorgeous! I maintain my sanity....getting out in nature! And I am working on some junk journals right now too. I am on a chai tea kick and always have a couple of books going at the same time. I'm a pretty blissful person! lol

  6. Your flower arrangement is lovely and I love the little truck! What a cute idea and I would have loved choosing stems there. The cookies sound yummy. Besides lots of prayers, my bubble bliss is staying busy with something. Reading, love talking with friends and puttering with the container flowers on the veranda. This humid weather is not helping with time outside. Take care......

  10. What fun that must have been at the flower truck, what a great idea, it's like a food truck but with flowers! The cookies sound amazing, I am getting so lazy in the kitchen, so I love a good short cut :) As for my bubble of bliss, it would be surrounded by art supplies, and a good book, with a Hallmark movie playing in the background...

  12. That bouquet is stunning! What a great concept. Maintaining my bubble of bliss has been difficult this week but today (Thursday) finally feels like things are settling down and I'm gaining my groove again. It's been a good day. I spent some time with my brother and a sister. Music from the 70s always makes us dance, and we lip-synced and laughed out loud. We crack ourselves up. :D
