What's Up?

Thursday, November 12, 2020

I look forward to sharing these books with you over the next few months.

Happy Thursday, Lovelies!  What have y'all been up to?

I have been working very hard around the house and garden, fixing things and deep cleaning.  Not many of our projects are blog worthy, though.  My laptop is on its last leg, and our daughter is completely monopolizing my desktop.  I love my desktop, and I can't wait to get it back!  :D  But she will finish her coursework mid-March so I don't have long to wait.  Plus she won't be in school at all during December, so I can't wait!  I will be posting on my blog like crazy during December!

I've been organizing my art studio because I still had a lot of crafts and homeschooling stuff I know I will never use, mostly art and art history curricula. I don't know why I held on to the things for so long, but I have the supplies and books boxed-up to donate.

We have our pansies planted for winter in our containers on the back patio...

...and we planted a variety of pansies, Johnny jump ups, and other winter greenery on the front porch.

On our pretty days, we've enjoyed walking and looking at the fall color.  We lost many of the leaves during the rains we've had lately.

Our Sasanqua Camellias have the most blossoms and buds they've ever had.

Brown paper packages, tied-up with string...
Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?  I hope to be finished by the weekend.

I ordered crafting supplies from Etsy.

We have begun decorating for Christmas!
Stop by Saturday to see my first post about our Christmas Decor.

While we've been working on maintenance around here, I've also been on Pinterest.  A LOT!  I have been dreaming of home decor projects.  Below is one of my favorite pins: I am obsessed with this kitchen!

I chose this photo because I love the pretty doors on the pantry.

What I love about this kitchen:

Lacanche range
Limestone floor
Chandelier
Sconce
Hood
Backsplash
Pantry doors
Whitewashed table

I'm not sure about the chairs.  They look like they're suede which wouldn't be practical in a kitchen, but maybe they're leather.

While not on Pinterest, I'm still reading my way around Mitford, North Carolina.  I finished Book 7 in Jan Karon's popular Mitford Series, entitled In This Mountain.  I think it's my favorite book of the series so far!

Come back tomorrow for my review of Book 8.  Spoiler:  It's a Christmas book!  :D

Please comment and share what's going on in your world.  Otherwise, I won't know you've been here!

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  2. I always love when pansies are planted in fall to overwinter. I share your joy in anticipating Christmas! Our home looks a bit two-faced right now - late fall being pushed away for Christmas, but in some cases both still there. Tubs in the middle of the floor, and I spent the entire Thursday baking breads and muffins! I've been on Pinterest for pinning recipes and looking at hairstyles trying to grown mine out just a bit). Looking forward to your share on the weekend.

  3. How fun! I've been organizing my art room/office, too. I know what you mean about old supplies that you won't be using. Right now it's hard to unload those -- places aren't taking donations these covid days but at least I'm moving them out of there to make it look a bit better and be easier to find things.

I'm not ready to decorate for Christmas -- that will start the day after Thanksgiving. But I'm organizing the guest room too, not that we're having guests these days. So when that's together, I'll bring up much of Christmas and store it there and then Friday after will do a massive fall take-down and Christmas set up.

Looking forward to your book review!
