Fanciful Flower Frogs

From Etsy: LaPella Pottery

While I was reading the April, 2011 issue of Country Living Magazine, I read an interesting feature for using flower frogs to hold make-up brushes.

So I started thinking....maybe flower frogs could be used for organization in our art studio.  The following images are from Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.

Here is my very favorite flower frog from MacKenzie-Childs.  It would be great for drying brushes...

...or I could simply use it for its original intent.

I bought the frog at the top of this post.  I will probably use it as a brush dryer for the studio, and continue to use the MacKenzie-Childs frog for flowers and potpourri.

Do you have any inventive uses for flower frogs?

  1. Oh, I love them both! What a great idea. I have a couple of flower frogs from my Southern Living days, but they are packed away :>(. I do use a small one with a dragon fly on it for my make up brushes, but I love your's! they are beautiful :D

  2. I don't have one yet but it's definitely on my list! All of the frogs you showed are perfect. Have you seen people use the old ones to prop pictures in? Love it!

  3. I found a blue and white flower frog at our antique mall a few years ago. It's sort of a rectangle which is unusual. I just love it. I have another one from Southern Living Home which is a very pale green...it's bigger so it makes a huge arrangement. Great post...thanks for the inspiration!

  5. Good Morning Ricki Sweetie...
What a gorgeous, colorful and delightful post this morning. Love your frog choices. So much fun. What fun in the studio with these.

I keep one by the front door. I keep lollipops in there for the grands. They are allowed to select one on the way out the door. Dum-dums fit in it perfectly and it looks so colorful and delightful. At Christmas, it holds candy canes beautifully as well. Not many flowers survive long enough out here in the desert to hold flowers, but I do love sharing with the grands.

Hope you are doing well sweet friend. Have a glorious week. Many hugs and much love from Phoenix, Sherry

  9. Great idea! A friend bought me one several years ago. I've never seen one sold anywhere up here in DC. I think they might just be a southern thing. I don't even keep anything in it! I just keep it on my book shelf because it's pretty glass. Guess there are several options to put in there!
