Inspiration for Our Art Studio

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

We are finally making progress planning our art studio.  The piano has found a good home, so now it is time for decisions.  The studio will also serve as a library, and I want a large work table.  We will move the armoire from the dining room to the studio to serve as storage.  I need to make some style decisions first, I think, since I already know what furniture I need.  I am leaning toward a Shabby Chic or Anthropologie-inspired space, but I might change my mind.  Here are some design inspirations I am considering for the room.

This image is from Martha Stewart, and I love the large white desk and inspiration board.

The rest of the images are from Better Homes and Gardens.  I like the crisp blue and white color scheme, especially the white walls and desk.  It looks like a comfortable room in which to create!

What is there not to love about this space!  The storage solutions are fun and ingenious.

I keep going back to this room.  I like that this is definitely a multi-function room.  It is a great design!

I like the retro feel in this room, and I am definitely liking white tables, apparently.

This work space's Shabby Chic style is very appealing to me.

Which of these design inspirations do you like for our art studio?  Please vote using the widget at the top of my sidebar.  Also, I would really appreciate your comments!

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. Hello Ricki! I made my vote! :) I chose the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The French Blue design reminds me of Cath Kidston. I love the life and color that the 3rd design brings. It's also so feminine. I love the 4th too because of the maximized space. I'm excited to see your final room. Keep us posted and updated my friend! Oh btw, I noticed some changes in the design of your blog too.

  2. I like the shabby chic stuff right now. And I think an art studio is a perfect place for some mess. Some of these, I'd be too afraid to actually do anything in because of how cute they look. I like the inspiration board of the first.

  5. The retro table is similar to my parent's kitchen table. :)

Seriously, I like a space where all my "stuff" can literally litter the area in the order that I need to use it. My work space would never be featured in a magazine, but I'm so happy in it. :\ Go figure.

  8. What a hard decision to make since they're all beautiful spaces in which to create! I would be happy with any of them, but I finally voted for the retro space because I'm a retro girl.

  13. Hi Ricki,
I voted for the blue & white but see I'm in the minority with that choice.
I'm sure that whatever you choose will be just perfect for your needs and look forward to seeing pix when it's finished.

  15. Love the pinky pretty 3rd down ... but they are ALL gorgeous, Ricki Jill.

I use flower frogs for my pencils on my desk & counters ... I use the prickly sticky ones to hold notes or cards or art ... they are perfect for these purposes. Add a touch of 'pretty', also.

  18. Gosh Ricki, this is a tough one. Now I know why you've been struggling!! I love three of them, My third fav is the first one, by MS, Multi Function is my second, but my very favorite is Color Storage! It is so you, the colors, the "female", I love this one. But, it would be great to combine a few things from each that you really love. Cannot wait to see final result.

  20. I love all of those! All the white looks so fresh like a new canvas! I guess I'd have to vote for the Retro one but they are all so cute! Can't wait to see what you do!

  21. Well, I guess I voted for the least favorite (the first one). Each one has some element that I love. I favor more of a monochromatic scheme for rooms that will have a lot of stuff showing- it's all usually so colorful! Have fun-can't wait to see it
