Harry Potter Pre-movie Party

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Photobucket

My daughter and her nerdy little friends will be going to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 this evening.  The table is set in Gryffindor colors with some of Harry's favorite things.

Photobucket

The cloche will keep the snitch trapped for the duration of the party.  Harry Potter caught many a snitch to win Quidditch matches for Gryffindor.  And to think some of you thought I would not find a use for my new cloche.  *giggles*

Photobucket

Hedwig is an honored guest, of course!

Photobucket

Mrs. Norris is here to spy on us for Filch.

Photobucket

Be careful, because the whomping willow branches might hit you if you try to get a treat.

Photobucket

Hermione has brought her textbooks to the party.  If The Monster Book of Monsters gets out of sorts, don't forget to stroke its spine.

What Hogwarts party is complete without Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans?

Photobucket

After dinner I have a special treat for dessert:  Sorting Hat Cupcakes!

Photobucket

The icing color determines which house:
Red: Gryffindor
Green: Slytherin
Blue: Ravenclaw
Yellow: Hufflepuff

Photobucket

It looks like I have been sorted into Ravenclaw.  ;P

These adorable cupcakes came from Dreamcakes in Homewood, AL.  The bakery is on the same block as Red Dot Gallery, which means it is too convenient for me.  Please visit their website here.

Just for fun, please view this amazing video of Chelsea Cane and Mark Ballas's Viennese Waltz danced to Hedwig's Theme from Dancing With the Stars.  The choreography is fantastic!

Until next time...

Blessings!

  2. What a fun post...hope they all had a good time. I saw where someone was making a movie about
    J. K. Rowling's rise to fame. That would be an interesting story. The cupcakes look wonderful by the way!

  6. *snort* laugh* I AM A TOTAL HARRY POTTER NERD!!!
I LOVE Harry and his adventures. When Harry Potter weekend comes on ABCFamily channel, we watch it for the entire weekend!

Last movie release party, Deathly Hallows part 1, me and my boys dressed up as people from the movie and had a party!! I was bellatrix. Who could pass up that dress up opportunity! Robert,14 went as dobby, Marshall 11, went as Nevel Longbottom. And I had him go outside and look under the trees for branches we could use as wands! Yes, HP Nerd/Dork indeed.

Why would you invite Mrs. Norris? You know she will spill the beans (*snort)and tell on you!!!

OH what a fun party you have planned!! They are going to love it!! You are an awesome mom and fabulous friend!! TFS!!!

  8. My daughter is going to the Midnight showing as well. Then she will go again with her dad and I in a few days. We have always taken this one daughter, a huge HP fan to see it with us and now this is the last one. Sad :(

  10. What a great tablescape! Wow ~ where has the time gone? It seems like the first Harry Potter movie was just yesterday. I have been involved in summer reading programs and volunteer storytelling for kids for several years. Harry Potter books have opened up the joy of reading for many kids and that makes me so happy! I hope your darling daughter and her friends have so much fun tonight!!

    Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley
