Recipe: Tahini Energy Balls

Friday, October 21, 2022

A trio of my favorite recipe and home decor books I've been enjoying lately.

Happy Friday, My Lovelies!

What is going on in your neck of the woods?  We've had Fall Festivals and Farmer's Markets and other fall-ish activities here, and we're trying to go to as many of the events as possible.  We've even been invited to an Oktoberfest Party this weekend.

With all the fun happenings, I sometimes need some energy.  I don't do the energy drinks: I'm afraid of what they might do to me.  Sometimes I just need a small snack to get me through the afternoon (or morning), and I found the perfect recipe for tahini balls in one of my latest (and favorite!) cookbooks:  The Forest Feast Road Trip by Erin Gleeson.  I own all of The Forest Feast recipe books, and I love them;  Erin is my favorite source for healthy recipes!  Here are my reviews for The Forest Feast here and here.

You will need these things to make the tahini balls:

You must have a food processor for this recipe.
I used way more sesame seeds than shown.

Ingredients:

1 cup oats
1 cup pitted dates
1/2 cup tahini
1/4 cup honey
sesame seeds for rolling

Procedure:

Pulse all ingredients together in a food processor until the dough can be rolled into balls.  I used a tablespoon for measurement, and the recipe makes about two dozen balls.  If the dough is too dry, add a teaspoon of honey, and if it's too wet, add a teaspoon of oats.  Keep doing this until it's the correct consistency.

Roll the balls in sesame seeds.  I'm not sure how much I used, but I'd say at least 1/4 cup.  Make sure you have plenty sesame seeds on hand for rolling!

Cook's Note:  I had to add one teaspoon honey to make the dough the right consistency.

All ready for my purse!

I like that these little energy balls are portable: You can either wrap them or put them into a container and then place them in your purse.

Easy-peasy!

As I am trying to make the best choices possible for my health, I am choosing whole foods and clean eating.  I know that I can purchase a similar product at my local supermarket, but I'd rather make them myself.  I have them stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and I think they should be good for at least a week.

  5. I am always on the hunt for healthy treats that taste good! I think I am going to love these! A go too treat at our house when I am craving something sweet is a Medjool date split in half with a bit of almond butter stuff inside!
