Happy Literary Friday, My Lovelies! Today I'm sharing an Advent and Christmas daily devotional: God Is In the Manger by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. I am enjoying it so far!

My review (so far):
I am enjoying this devotional more than I ever imagined. I have cheated and read ahead because Bonhoeffer does not mince words. I know I'm reading the English translation of his thoughts from his native German, so I'm hoping that nothing has been lost in translation. Dietrich Bonnhoeffer was a Lutheran pastor, theologian, and professor. He was imprisoned during World War II and was eventually hanged as a traitor for his role in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. My favorite part of the book other than scripture are the excerpts from letters he wrote to his fiancée Maria von Wedemeyer while imprisoned. These excerpts are hopeful and full of joy. His writings focused on Christianity's role in a secular world, and his influence has only grown in recent years. He was only 39 when he was executed.
