It's a Garden Party!

Friday, April 27, 2018

Happy Weekend, My Lovelies!  After a week of cooler temps and pouring rain, it's finally sunny today.  YAY!  I'm so happy about it, although with the wind it's still chilly.

Sweet Stacey @ Poofing the Pillows asked me to be a part of this party, and as usual I'm late.  But this time it was Mother Nature's fault and not my own!  ;P

I thought I'd share a few scenes from around our garden, and focus on our roses.  Let's take a look!

We still haven't cleaned-up from the week's rain and thundershowers.

Finlay and Mustang Sally wonder why I'm taking this photo!
We put zip ties on the gate so the Westies won't escape to chase the squirrels and rabbits!

Terrible photo, but I love the sunshine!  You can see our new sod, camellias, ferns, and Confederate jasmine in the background.

We have giant pots in our back garden that are filled with carpet roses, petunias, and plumbago.  The plumbago aren't blooming yet.

This little hydrangea has a few buds on it.

Chair planter filled with bacopa

Tuteurs planted with tomato plants

These are our roses in the front of our home.

This is a new knockout rose we planted out front.

A variety of carpet roses and knock out roses spilling over our retaining wall.

More carpet roses over another retaining wall.  Our property is on the side of a mountain, and the lots slopes.  That's why we have so many retaining walls.

Planter on our front porch with bacopa and million bells

More roses near our front door

Our endless summer hydrangeas are just starting to bloom.  Our grass isn't green yet, and not much else is blooming other than the Confederate jasmine and roses.

Our hydrangeas are purple this year.  Sometimes they're very blue, and sometimes they're pink.

The next three photos show a row of knockout roses in our side yard.

That's about all that's interesting in our garden.  We still need to power wash our brick and clean up a little.  That's our plans for the weekend.

I want to thank all the ladies in the graphic at the top of the post for hosting the link-up.  You can see more of the pretty gardens by linking HERE to Poofing the Pillows.

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. Ricki Jill, it all looks pretty and full of color. I love getting a peek around your garden. I've been concentrating on the garden beds, but our hardscape could us a good power wash too.
Gardening is an ongoing joy in my life. I think it must be for you too.

  3. Hi Ricki Jill, I got a kick out of Finlay's and Mustang Sally's noses pressed against your beautiful MKC gate :) The zip ties are genius to keep them from bolting! I'm also in love your Mrs. Powers Tuteurs, tomatoes will never look so good! We had a very wet week here and things are just starting to dry out and bloom. Your garden is about 3 - 4 weeks ahead of ours. Hope you're enjoying some sunshine this weekend! ♥

  4. SO very pretty! And that zip tie idea? That's brilliant -- they look like they're itching to wiggle through the fence. Smart move! Can't wait till it's nice enough to garden around here!

  5. Ricki Jill, it's beautiful there!! I have to say, we've been to Alabama three times in the last few years and I'm always in awe of the plants and flowers. The camellias are amazing!! We have planted one in a shady corner here and we have our fingers crossed. Your tuteurs and your gate are stunning! Where do you find such things?

I'm so glad you shared this at the garden party. Mark your calendar for May 25th. :)

  7. RJ, your garden is so lovely. I had no idea you have such a green thumb. I’m loving all the shrubbery, it makes such a beautiful backdrop for your blooms and especially the roses. I also love all the containers, one of my favorites to find in a garden. It is so unusual to have May knocking on the door and the grass still hasn’t greened up. So, maybe this is our first weekend to see summer movie in, although I can’t complain I’ve enjoyed the cool temps. Enjoy your weekend.......

  15. Ricki Jill, your gardens are lovely. I was admiring the brick. Ours is filthy. I'd like to go with the old south look to avoid the work of cleaning, but Mr. P. prefers it free of moss. I'm afraid of ruining the mortar over time. Always somethibg....

  16. Those roses and hydrangeas!!! (swoon) There was snow flying around here yesterday and it is supposed to be 81 and humid wednesday...I am not overjoyed about either of those scenarios!

  17. Ricki Jill,
Hydrangeas, large flower pots, beautiful tomato cages, and gorgeous flowers in your gardens makes me smile as I look at them. Southern gardens are the best to me, and I miss seeing my mother's.
