Two Kinds of Cozy for Winter: Katie's Quilts and Winter Reads from Harlequin

Monday, December 4, 2017

Happy Monday, My Lovelies!  Be ready to get your cozy on with this post!  I have two things to share:

1.   Katie's beautiful, cozy Christmas quilt and table runner

and

2.   Harlequin's 2017 Winter Reads Picks Blog Tour

Do you know Katie?  She's Julep and Derby's mom at The Westie Julep Blog.  I love reading about Julep and Derby's antics.  They are both darling Westies, and Derby has one of the cutest little faces I've ever seen on a Westie!  Katie is a very talented quilter, and she's also very generous, donating her quilts and other creations to charitable causes.  I'm so fortunate that she shares with me, too!  She's a wonderful Westie Mom, and she contributes to a fantastic Facebook Page all about Westie health.

Check out the Christmas quilt she sent me:

Would you look at the little button detail?  So cute!

I have it on the big chair in our bedroom, and I love to sit here and read.  The quilt is so cozy, and it matches the chair perfectly!

Katie had some leftover fabric, so she made me a table runner for the breakfast room table.  This was such a help because I was running out of ideas for the breakfast room.  I wanted to create something different this year for Christmas.

While I was reading Terrain's Blog, I was inspired by the Three Different Lantern Looks post, especially the one with the mushroom ornaments:

I have smaller hurricanes, and I already had plenty of pinecones, reindeer moss, and fake snow.  I ordered the ornaments from Terrain, and here's our breakfast room table with Katie's adorable quilted runner and the pretty glass ornaments from Terrain:

Isn't the table runner pretty!  You can also see the tops of the mushrooms' caps.

This is my copycat using the ornaments.

I also added the woodland themed mugs and a hurricane filled with cinnamon sticks, pinecones, and pomegranates all from Pier 1.

The votives are vintage with Christmas tree cutouts, and the napkins look nice with the runner.

I confess that I was probably the last person to accept the woodland theme for Christmas including mushrooms.  I think I've made fun of that trend for a couple of years now, but I embraced the mushrooms when I read the Terrain blog.

What do you think about this trend in Christmas decor?

Thank-you, Katie!

  9. Totally, totally, totally fabulous. Oh, how you will treasure these. And I adore the woodsy theme -- the mushrooms in the vases are inspired! I may have to borrow a page from your book with the vase idea! Simply perfection!
