Advent Day 8

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

Happy Advent Season, My Lovelies!  This year on my Advent Calendar I want to share Christmas traditions from around the world along with a daily scripture reading.

No random post for today, but if you come back tomorrow, I'll have a random post ready.  We've been out of town, and we shall return late this evening.

Today I want to share with you one of my favorite Christmas traditions from the Ukraine.  This is the second tradition I've shared from that country, and I've shared this one on my blog years ago, but it's worth the repeat!  In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Ukrainians do not remove spiders' webs from their homes.  Tradition states that spiders wove webs to delight the baby Jesus at his birth. Ukrainians also decorate their Christmas trees with beautiful spiders' webs and sometimes spider ornaments.

The first half of my Advent Calendar is starting to fill-up!

Matthew 2:2

2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. Ukraine, yay! As I shared with you earlier, I did missions in Ukraine. It has a special place in my heart.

  2. Yeah, I do not think this is one tradition I would like. Spiders on the tree is not for me, but I find it interesting.
