Fresh Cut Friday: Chrysanthemums

Photobucket

I love football mums.  They remind me of Homecoming football games. Young men in the South buy their Homecoming dates gorgeous (large) football mum corsages.  This weekend promises to be a great weekend for football.  Many are saying that the game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers is the true National Championship game.

I placed the football mums by a sunny window in our dining room.

I only wish I could have found white football mums at the market.  They are the traditional color used for football mum corsages.  The maroon ones will have to do...they are close to crimson in color.

The vase is the Lismore pattern by Waterford.

I am linking to Liz's blog party, Fresh Cut Friday.  I hope y'all will participate!

Until next time...

Roll Tide!

  11. Until we moved to Italy we often had 'mums' in the house but it is considered unlucky here! I wrote about it last week!

  12. Oh, Ricki Jill,
These Mums were passed around at our school during football season too. We were always glad when someone interrupted the classroom to deliver Mums to the kids. This brought back alot of sweet memories. Your maroon Mums are beautiful.

  14. I hope you had a great weekend! I'm missing out on the blog world with a nasty cold/cough. Ugh. Love your blooms! Does Liz name the flower of the month and then give a few weeks/days to get the posts up or is the post where she displays her flower the one to link to? I need to look into it because I want to follow along! That was a great game, but the wrong team won :(

  15. It's good to know that you also enjoy watching sports games Ricki. While you love football, basketball is the in thing here in the Philippines.

The Chrysanthemums made me feel that Christmas is indeed coming. Have a great day Ricki!
