Bathtub Bliss

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

We had planned to renovate our master bathroom this year, but we have spent money on other more pressing things, like college expenses.  We will probably redo it next year, so I am already tearing sheets from magazines and bookmarking articles on my computer.  We will have a very limited budget, so we will search all over for bargains.  Our biggest expense will be a new bathtub.

Here are some bathtubs I love.  We currently have a tremendously huge jetted tub that we want to replace. I prefer a pretty freestanding tub, and so does Mr. Art @ Home.

This bathtub is a focal point in this smaller bathroom.  Photo courtesy of Better Homes and Gardens.

This bathtub shown in Better Homes and Gardens looks lovely centered in the bay window.

This wooden tub has a lovely shape, and is from Country Living Magazine, UK edition.

Don't you just love designer Penelope Bianchi's zinc-lined copper tub?  I enjoyed reading about her lovely California home in last September's edition of House Beautiful.  *le sigh*

Brooke Giannetti's stunning pewter bathtub has a gorgeous shape and patina.  Brooke shared her top ten decorating tips in Veranda Magazine.

Although not freestanding, this sunken tub (not an option for us) is gorgeous surrounded by travertine.  This cottage bath was featured in Cottage Living Magazine.

If you could renovate your bathroom, what kind of bathtub would you want?

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. I'm a sucker for a pretty bathtub. I love all of the ones that you featured. I'm ashamed to admit this, but I'd actually love to have jets in my spa tub.....shhh, don't tell anyone!!

  2. We have renovated two bathrooms in this home over the past six years. Each one of them cost more to renovate than our first four bedroom brick home cost back in 1969. But, it sure was worth it!

  3. They are all beautiful. Lots of great inspiration. My dream bath would have a huge rainfall shower.

  4. Hello Ricki! I find the wooden bath tub so unique and interesting. But I'm concerned over its durability.

In my wildest dreams I want a bathtub that is so huge, positioned to a good garden view and in my favorite colors, either blue or green.

But realistically, I could only afford a plain white tub. It's similar to your first and second pics.

  5. I vote the first one. Big and deep with water up to your eyeballs. Heaven.

  7. They are all so beautiful. It would really be hard to choose, but if I could have any tub I would choose one that is deep. I find it strange that in most tubs more than half your body is not in the water and you get cold, especially in the winter! I think water to up to at least the chest would be heavenly! Elaine is on the right track.
