 ...for a Thanksgiving tablescape blog hop!

Happy Tuesday, My Lovelies!  It's time for another themed tablescape blog hop hosted by the lovely Rita @ Panoply.

Everything Rita does is so pretty and special.

This year I decided to decorate informally: no silver or crystal on the table at all!  Come on in, Lovelies, and let's look at our table.

I like setting formal tables, and I probably will for Christmas or New Year's Eve, but we decided to have a little more laid-back Thanksgiving celebration this year.  We will be eating our luncheon (our main Thanksgiving meal) at a different venue, and I don't think we'll be that hungry for dinner.
I'm planning a simple dinner to enjoy in our dining room Thanksgiving evening.

I combined a tablecloth with a crewelwork table runner.  The runner is autumn themed with fall leaves, flowers, and acorns.

One of my friends HATES my pressed glass French bistro wine glasses.  She always makes fun of them, but they're like Weebles: they're hard to tip over because they're short and heavy.

I fluffed the centerpiece we used for a bridal afternoon tea last month.  I took out the begonias, left the ferns, and added "Chilly Chily" ornamental peppers and croton for autumn color.

I selected MacKenzie-Childs plates with autumn colors, and added spicy-colored salad plates.

Our Welsh dresser has a teacup planter with a fern and dried autumn leaves in an amber colored vase.

There's another teacup in the living centerpiece.
I also added a glass pumpkin and glass acorns.
The napkin rings are leather.

The squirrel and stump are salt and pepper shakers.

There is absolutely nothing new on our table other than the plants.  If you have any specific questions about anything, please ask in the comment section below.

We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own.

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. Hi there! I really like that teacup basket centerpiece! What a unique design! The combination of living plants added to it make it come alive with color and additional texture! I'm also in love with your napkin rings! I've not seen those anywhere, and I'm a big fan of the leather look! Those would be great on an equestrian-themed table, too! It is so wise to have your main Thanksgiving meal earlier in the day! We used to do it that way when my Mom was living. It made sense because of so many reasons, but especially because it gave license to sneak a turkey sandwich and another piece of pie later!

    Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  6. Ricki Jill, your table is lovely. We try to have our meal early in the day as we love to snack on leftovers for the evening "supper".
    How clever you are to re-purpose your 'flower' arrangement...it is perfect with the pops of red and yellow chilies. Happy Thanksgiving

  12. I am always drawn to crewelwork, and your runner is so lovely. I'm amazed at how the MKC can blend with most anything - pattern, color, texture. You have a cornucopia of textures on this table and it really keeps my interest! Love the glass acorns. The added croton and peppers has given new life to your bridal shower arrangement - so awesome. I love your menu too. That sounds so much more appealing to me than the traditional. I've only made Thanksgiving dinner once, know how, but hope to break tradition if ever I'm the host again. Your friend who HATES - bless her heart!
    Thank you, Ricki Jill, for joining me/us at the table. Your words of me were so kind and appreciated.

  13. I love your pretty crewelwork table runner Ricki Jill! It sets the tone for the table and can used for the fall season with your acorns and pumpkin and cute squirrel salt & pepper shaker set. I happen to be a fan of your pressed glass French bistro glasses as they’re all purpose and for the reason you stated, ‘Weeble’-like. :) Love the shot of the room with your hutch and all your MKC pieces all gathered together! It’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you again! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving ♥

  14. Ricki, Your table is so inviting and pretty. I love the full view because I love seeing your lovely french chairs.
    You do mix and match so well and all your MC pieces are so elegant.
    I have a similar vine teapot with moss planter. I had it on my porch and the little wrens were stealing the moss for their nests so I had to move it. I need to redo it and have it inside.
    Also love your table runner. So glad you have joined the hops.

  17. Oooh Ricki Jill, I’m loving the crewel work and the adorable teacup planter! How funny about your friend who hates your pressed glass bistro glasses. Everything looks lovely. Your dining room chairs are so dreamy.

  18. I really like what you did. The runner is especially pretty. I think it is fancy. I don't know what is not to like about your wine glasses. I use my French ones everyday for everything except wine, because they are pretty and they don't tip easily. Oh well. People like different things. Happy Thanksgiving early... just in case. xoxo Su

  24. What a pretty and casual table you have set! With the flood at my house last month we will not be eating Thanksgiving dinner at home this year either. I will certainly miss all of the leftovers! I think there is nothing wrong with a casual table setting, no matter if it is the main Thanksgiving meal or not! Happy Thanksgiving!

  25. Beautiful table but the napkin end should always point to the person seated and not to the middle of the table.
