Tales of the Traveling Tote: San Antonio, Texas

Tuesday, June 1, 2021

Welcome to the Tales of the Traveling Tote, San Antonio, Texas Edition!

{Plus I'm hosting a super-cool giveaway: a A MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check light switch cover (above).}

Trip and I traveled to San Antonio for my best friend's daughter's wedding.  I cannot even begin to tell you how nice it was to do something normal again, and visit with Susan and her family.  I loved seeing her children, her sister Lisa and family, and other family members.  We visited, laughed, cried (tears of joy), and had the most wonderful time!

The wedding was held at the lovely La Cantera Resort.

The resort has at least four pools.

La Countess de Monet is enjoying our balcony view at the resort.

We had a pretty view of a formal garden from our room.  The weather was beautiful on Friday, and I'm happy I was able to get a few photos because it poured down rain on Saturday, the wedding day.

Fountains in the garden

A rill runs through the garden.  I actually took this photo on Saturday, right after a downpour.

This is the ruin of a fort on the property.

Most of the vegetation around San Antonio was killed during last winter's snowstorm.  Most plantings around the city are new and not very mature, but the resort was still beautiful.

I was a hostess for Lauren's bridesmaids' luncheon on Friday.  Susan's sister Lisa did an amazing job with the planning and implementation: She is very talented!  The luncheon was held at the beautiful Dominion Country Club.

Susan with Lauren and Lauren's brother Mitch.  Mitch was on standby because his daughter Layla is three years old and very, very busy.  She was a flower girl, and the flower girls were guests at the luncheon, too.
Susan and I have been friends our whole lives: we attended the same schools, church, and college.  We even share the same birthday!

I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Lauren's bridesmaids, too.  Lauren's joy was infectious, and her friends were all darling!

The bridesmaids enjoyed their gift bags from Lauren.

Lauren was a stunning bride and wore one of the prettiest dresses I've ever seen.  The wedding was meant to be outside, but due to the inclement weather, it was inside.

We had a wonderful time!  I miss Susan already, but I will probably visit her in Texas soon.

It's giveaway time!

  1. WHat a fabulous trip and resort at La Cantera! How special to have a twin sister from another mother?! Your paths in life were destined to parallel, it sounds. Even through the rain, just being able to gather and be with friends made for a very memorable time. I'm happy you were able to share that with your friend Susan. Happy June!

  12. Ricki Jill, your luncheon looks lovely. I'm glad you got to visit San Antonio. I know it was a packed few days with all the wedding activities. I wish you had better weather to enjoy, but spring in Texas can be wet. In fact we had had rain for days and days and looks like this week will be the same. Texas took a hit with the winter storm. It will take some time for our vegetation to return. My own garden is slowing returning, but I'm still waiting on plants to fill the urns and new trees for several areas. What an experience.
Hope you get back to visit again1
