Taking a Break from Blogging

Saturday, August 13, 2011

I will be taking a break from blogging for almost a week as we will be moving our daughter into her dorm at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  It is also the beginning of sorority rush week.  This is a very exciting time for our daughter; it is very bittersweet for Mr. Art @ Home, her sister, and me.

Until next time...

  5. Have a great time! These milestones can be so bitter-sweet. But, after all, the goal of parenting is to work ourselves out of a job. ;)

  13. Hi Ricki Jill Sweetie...
How exciting for your sweet girl. She will be having such a wonderful experience at college, and rush week. What a wonderful time. She will do so much growing up before the holidays. She won't even look the same when she comes home at Christmas.

I love the photo of her with the mascot. So stinkin cute. Thank you for sharing.

My heart goes out to you, as I know, being a Mom, how hard it is to let go, but at the same time we want them to grow up and use the wise sense that we have shared over the years. Keep me posted sweetie. Be strong, I know it will be hard. Hugs, hugs, and more hugs.

This is the Miracle Weekend makeover. I am one of the hosting sites. For every comment left, Guideposts magazine will pay a dollar, to the next cancer makeover patient. Please stop by and read the story about 9 year old Charlie, and bless me with a comment. Out goal between the 4 or 5 blogs is 5,000. I know we can do it. I would appreciate it, if you pass the word around to as many friends as possible.

Thank you sweetie for a wonderful post. I love it. Have a glorious weekend. Country hugs from Phoenix, Sherry

  22. I'll say a prayer for you, friend. I know how hard it is when your child leaves the nest, even if it's just temporary. My oldest son went to Auburn and my daughter is still in grad school in Indiana.

  25. I cried myself sick the day we left my daughter at school (of course she was leaving me with an empty nest) and came home and went to bed for a couple of days. I missed her all the time, but truly within a week or so we adapted and honestly, the breaks are so long during the college years it felt as if I saw her more than when she was in high school! You can get through it. Compared to when they graduate and move far away...college is a breeze!

  26. This is such a wonderful new chapter and journey for your daughter, but I know you are going to miss her. Be strong and everyone will be waiting to hear how it all went.

  27. Ricki Jill,
I remember well when my girls moved out to go to college. Letting them go is hard, but it makes my heart sing when they are happy. You're a good mom, and I know things will work out. Take care, my friend.

  29. Hey RJ,

Call me when all the craziness is over... I'm dying to hear an explanation of why *that* would be the mascot for a "tide". LOL

    Shanley,
Be safe. Have fun! You look soooo beautiful... be sure to walk softly and carry a big stick to beat all the guys away. LOL
