Happy Presidents' Day, My Lovelies!  What are your plans for the day?  I have a meeting this afternoon, so I probably won't be doing much this morning other than a few chores and reading this:

It's a very interesting read so far!

I'm happy to announce that I had my follow-up mammogram, and I got a very good grade.  I won't need another one for a year, and I already have my appointment for Valentine's Day 2024.  I've also been released from physical therapy.  My health is a top priority these days: I walk the Westies daily unless it's pouring down rain.  We enjoy our little walkies, and if you follow me on Instagram, you can see videos of our walks sometimes.

I continue to slowly deep clean our home, but I'm also trying to find a little joy, too.  I found some pretty chamomile at Trader Joe's and placed it in the art studio.

I'm still not painting, but I am slowly working through a realism drawing book.  I love popcorn, and whenever I pick-up my drawing pad to work on the popcorn drawing, I start craving it.  Popcorn is my favorite snacky-snack.

I'm almost finished with this one.

I love maidenhair ferns.  Love them.  They're my favorite house plant.  I kill lots of them, and I don't like doing that.  I found a great video and article from The Spruce HERE that teaches how to grow and care for them.  An added benefit:  They are nontoxic to both children and pets.

I have them displayed on our dining room table.

I'm also planning our container gardens for spring.  I cant wait to start planting!

I haven't written a Literary Friday post in a while, but I will be posting one this Friday.  I read a book entitled The Book Haters' Book Club, and in it a bookseller recommends books in newsletters.  Being the nerd that I am, I read three of the recommended books (I sort of went down a little rabbit hole).  I will be reviewing all four books on Friday.

I have made it a goal to read five classics this year, four I've never read and one re-read.  Here's my current read:

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is long, so it will take me a minute to read it!

Also, I've started a rather large project.  Here's a hint:

Coming-up March 1st:

Thanks for reading my blog!

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  4. So happy for your good medical report. Prayers do help. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I read "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" many years ago. I intend to read it again. I am hoping to read a few classics this year. I will start with "Lorna Doone". My twin sister read it long ago and has been urging me to read the book. Have a good week. I will be looking forward to your book reviews Friday. God Bless.

  11. Lots of fun things on the horizon for you and best of all, a good report!! Congratulations!! I love that plant, I'm not a great gardener, but it looks interesting and the non-toxic is a huge plus. I'm going to see if I can find them in my area. I'm intrigued by the pic of the building...and what other classics are on your list!! I'll be tuning in for sure!!
