The Canticle of the Turning

Tuesday, December 14, 2021

Do you like Irish coffee?  Our version doesn't include whiskey which might disappoint a few of you.  Ours is simply coffee, a wee bit of Bailey's, whipped cream, and a cinnamon stick.

My favorite service at church is Lessons and Carols.  My favorite song is the Irish song The Canticle of the Turning.  Our church choir and musicians play this every year.  It always makes me so happy to hear it!  Below is a video of the song with lyrics.  I hope you'll play it because it will bring a smile to your face!

In keeping with the Celtic theme, today's Chrismon is the Celtic cross:

The circle at the top stands for eternal life. A circle goes round and round and never ends. Our life in Christ also never ends.

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, and whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:36

Today's scripture:

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,  and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
Luke 2:6-7

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  3. I'm not big on coffee but I really do love the song. It has a wonderful Celtic feel to it -- it reminds me of a Chieftains CD I have. I love that style!
