We Want to Know Wednesday is a weekly Q & A hosted by Mamarazzi, Crazymama, and Queso.

This week's questions come from the awesome Queso and she wants to know...

{1} Do you have any musical talents?

No.  The only reason I can play the piano is through sheer determination.

{2} What role, if any, does music play in your life?

We enjoy music as a family, especially on the boat.  My daughters and I love Alt Nation, and we think Madison is the best DJ ever!  My husband and I were both DJ's in college.  Mr. Art @ Home owned a business where he DJ'd for sorority and fraternity parties.  I was a DJ for WVUA, the Rock of the South (as it was called on campus back in the eighties).  Now it is called The Capstone, and I still listen to the station when I am in Tuscaloosa, and they still play alternative music, too.  We have seen many fantastic concerts, and I have taken my oldest daughter to the Van's Warped Tour.  The last concert I attended was Owl City.  I took our youngest and a friend to that one.  Our oldest daughter was in show choir, and sang in musicals at church.  She has a beautiful voice!  She gets it from her daddy.

{3} What is your all time favorite song?

"Baby I Love Your Way" by Peter Frampton.  I also love Big Mountain's version of the song from the nineties!

The song is very visual if you listen to the lyrics, and I love this verse:

I can see the sunset in your eyes
Brown and grey and blue besides
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun
I wish I could buy one out of season.....

{4} Do you sing in the shower?

      No.

{5} Has a song ever made you cry?

Actually, two songs have made me cry, and interestingly enough, they are both Christmas songs.  One is from my childhood, "The Little Drummer Boy" duet by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.  The other one is from college, "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid.

Bing Crosby and David Bowie sing "The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth"

The superband, Band Aid, was formed in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to help raise funds for the famine in Ethiopia.  This is "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Until next time...

Blessings!

  5. It is always fun to learn more about our blog friends. Music really is part of the core of who I am. I've always loved it, always been involved in it in some way and for an "old lady" I'm pretty up on current music as well as good old classic rock.

  6. It seems we are from the same time period! Music is so important to me!! And sharing my music with my boys, and them sharing their music with me is a big part of our lives!!
I saw soooo many concerts too!! I remember my first concert was when I was 15. My oldest is 15 and I would NEVER let him go to a concert alone now! How sad how times have changed.
I play (ed) the french horn all through school, and in a traveling group, and feel so sad that I haven't played it in so long.
But small son playes trumpet. His teacher said he should try out for all county!! He is only 12, but such a natural. I've played Chicago for him to show him how awesome the trumpet is!! For his birthday he asked for The Beatles sheet music.
Great post, sorry I was rambling!!

  11. Ricki Jill,
I just had to tell you that the song and movie "The Little Drummer Boy" always brings tears to my eyes too. It is such a special story of love. Are you getting ready for Christmas? I am going to a shop this weekend in Jess' town, and it is all decked out for Christmas. Have a fun weekend, my sweet friend.
