Although my asthma and allergies have been terrible lately, I still have several things to be happy about.
My Happy List
1. I won a wonderful giveaway through the Practical Magic Blog Party. These soaps are based on the the movie with names like: Amas Veritas, Midnight Margarita, Verbena, and Mint Oatmeal Shaving Bar. The Mint Oatmeal Shaving Bar soap has been so soothing for my allergies and skin. Winning lovely gifts makes me happy! I want to thank Carol @The Imaginative Arts of Carol Ochs for her generosity in hosting such a lovely giveaway! Carol is so talented, and I am enjoying her blog immensely. Please visit Carol's blog here.
Carol even sent me this pretty bookmark!
2. On October 8, we went to Homecoming at the University of Alabama. I love Tuscaloosa, and I would live there if I could! Alabama football weekends make me very happy! We attended the game with my best HS friend and her husband {Susan and Darby}. Susan and her sweet family are moving back to Birmingham after being away for over ten years. I am so happy they are moving home!
This is DZ's first place winning lawn decoration. Congratulations, ladies! DZ came in third overall in the Homecoming Spirit Competition.
The President's Mansion
3. I am so excited about Swapoween. Mamarazzi is my swap partner, and I could not be more happy about it! Mamarazzi hosts this My Happy List linky, and she is *sunshine*. I love her blog because it is so genuine and *fun*. I will be blogging about Swapoween on Friday, and I am looking forward to writing the post. Here is a quick teaser:
4. I learned something new while reading The Language of Flowers last week. I learned that in order for roses to open fully, you have to cut the stems really short. Learning new things makes me very happy! I tried it, and check out how fully my roses opened:
I placed them in a short frog vase. This is before they are fully open.
5. I want to thank you all for your concern about me. I am truly blessed with the best of health, except this asthma annoyance. Your emails, cards, phone calls, and comments have meant the world to me. Having caring friends make me very happy! Y'all rock out loud!
What has made you happy this week? Please join Mamarazzi, and share your happy!
Until next time...
Blessings!
Ricki Jill
The soaps look amazing. Congratulations on scoring such great gifts. I did not know that about roses! Learn something new everyday on here! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to venture out for my 3 mile walk and thought I would stop in to say hello. What a great win and I must stop by Caroline's blog and see all her talents..nice pictures of the homecoming event..it's a great happy list..
Enjoy time..
I am glad to hear you are okay. Asthma does not sound pleasant at all. I have allergies that can leave me gasping for air if I don't watch out so I cannot imagine the degrees to which asthma can be disabling. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it is fun time over there. Your photos say it all! COngrats on your winning those lovely items, Ricki. Have a nice week!...Christine
ReplyDeleteYou do, indeed, have a lot of things to make you happy. I didn't know about this meme and can't wait to share my happiness next week. :)
ReplyDeleteNo rain yet...we had the worst sand storm I have ever seen yesterday..will blog it soon. So bad, I couldn't get many photos, tho.

ReplyDeleteSo glad that you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteThose roses are beautiful.
Hey Ricki...I wish I could take credit for that giveaway, and you did win my giveaway but that one's not from me. It is super fabulous though! I send the solid black soap, candle and blue socks.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to DZ, my SIL was a DZ at Alabama.
What a great collection of happy things. One of these days I am going to get my happy things together and join y'all.
Have a great day!
Caroline
I had asthma most of my childhood and into my mid-twenties; I feel your pain. Love your list today!
ReplyDeleteI love to win giveaways, and when you win soaps candles or things that are fragrant that makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteThis week did not make me happy. Our family had two car accidents. I was happy no one was hurt in either accident. Another thing that made me unhappy, was that people who I am close to are suffering horrible sickness.
My son is being harrassed and sued by a debt collector, and now he has to file bankruptcy. He went today to see his lawyer and the process is already started.
I do not mean to bring you down. It is what it is with us last week and this week. Hopefully next week I can be happy again.
BTW, love the roses!
I hope you are feeling better soon! I always love your happy lists!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Ricki Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you have been under the weather with asthma and allergies. I am right there with you. I live on Advair, Singulair and Spiriva, and breathing treatments with my nebulizer as needed. It is not fun, but keeps me breathing. I will be sending up some prayers for you sweetie. Laboring to breath is exhausting.
You received some absolutely beautiful gifts. Love the little card/marker so precious. Love the face. Your soaps sound amazing and I bet the smell is so inviting. Thank you for sharing, I will check out her site.
Didn't know that about roses, but always wondered why mine did not open to their full extent. What a great share.
Hope you have a great day sweet friend. I will check up on you again soon. I am right there with you on the meds. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
