What To Do On a Rainy Sunday Afternoon? Sip Coffee and Read!

I do not want to get out in the rain Tropical Storm Lee has brought us, so instead I will stay inside, make some coffee, and read my new book, Modern Vintage Style by Emily Chalmers.  I think I will appreciate the book because I like Emily's design philosophy of mixing vintage with new, and using traditional items in modern ways.

Vintage Boontonware on a vintage Belgian linen tea towel; dinette set is a reproduction.

Our tiny little cabin's kitchen and dining area looks like an American midcentury diner, so the atmosphere is perfect for enjoying Modern Vintage Style.

Mr. Art @ Home recently installed white subway tiles under our breakfast bar.  I think he did an excellent job, and he chose the tiles on his own.

How are you spending your Sunday afternoon?  Have you read any good books lately? What about design books?

I love the decorating book you have! We went to Barnes and Noble last night and my eyes always get SO BIG! heehee! But I still get most of my books from the library! I'm goofing off today! We've been on the go so much lately...I was ready for a day at home! Hugs! ♥

I am cleaning up from a big birthday party last night for My Honey. We had 14 for dinner so things are still being washed and put away. We had a blast. The kids wanted to play with his presents. So cute.

Is the book worth getting? Our only bookstore "Borders" is going out of business and I like to look at a book before buying.
Thank you

Nice book. I was at Barnes & Nobles and was glancing through Babs (Barbra Steisand) book on design and was shocked at the price of her book, 60.00! Of course I looked at every page..drooling I might add..
Love your clean chrome look..very vintage and modern..

Our temps dropped quite a bit today, and so my friend and I went to the movies to see "The Help" This was her third time and my second! I am also reading the book that the film was taken from. Then home to a grilled steak dinner, potato salad, corn on the cob, and fresh tomatoes!
