Happy Friday, My Lovelies! Do you have plans for Memorial Day? I hope you will be somewhere beautiful (our country is beautiful) celebrating with family and friends!
I wanted to decorate our breakfast room table with a patriotic theme, so I pulled out a couple of books written by the Queen of Americana, Mary Emmerling. Mary has written well over thirty books, and she had an HGTV show in the 90s. I have read most of her books, and the two I'm sharing with you today, one published in 1997, and the other in 2004, still inspire me after all these years. The rooms in these books are timeless and beautiful.
Romantic Country is one of my all-time favorite decorating books.
If you've never read it, I bet your library has a copy!
Mary likes using American flags in her decor.
After Mary inspired me, I got to work. But unfortunately I'd spent so much time looking at her books, that I didn't have the time to take out my big box of patriotic stuff, so I went with simple.
I wanted to use red roses because the red rose is the United States of America's national flower.
The cream roses looked whiter in the store, but I still love their ruffles. If they open more, I'll take more photos and post them next week.
I don't have any flatware on the table because most of it is in the dishwasher, and so are the glasses I want to use. Don't judge me: Use your imagination! LOL
All of the table linens are from Pier 1 as are the wooden chargers and napkin rings. Who misses Pier 1 raise your hand? The flower frog is an Etsy find, and the red votives are from Leaf 'n Petal. The plates are vintage MacKenzie-Childs (over thirty years old).
I hope you have a Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Until next time...
Blessings!
