Trying to Find Normalcy

Tuesday, February 25, 2020

My latest hobby this winter has been forcing bulbs.

Happy Tuesday, My Lovelies!

I've spent the past week or so working on getting back in a regualr routine and back to some semblance of normalcy after our daughter's wedding.  I'm also writing a blog post about the wedding, and I will post it once I have more photos from our wedding photographer.

Because we haven't traveled at all this past quarter, I'm struggling on what to write about for our Tales of the Traveling Tote March post.  I might feature one of my latest field trips.  You can read my post and the other ladies' posts in the group Sunday, March 1st, which is this Sunday.  Can you believe it?  February has flown by!

Jenna will be hosting the March gieveaway.
This MacKenzie-Childs Flower Market whisk would be a lovely springtime addition to any kitchen!

My art studio seems empty without all of the wedding presents and paraphernalia.  Maybe now I can get back to creating and painting!

I've already started a little spring cleaning.  I like to clean when it's bright and sunny, and those days have been few and far between this winter.  We were so fortunate it was a nice weekend for Shanley Belle and Christopher's wedding festivities.

This little tray corrals my Nespresso things.

Recentlly, I won a subscription box to Sips by via Once Upon a Book Club.  Upon winning, I linked to their site and completed a tea profile, and the experts at Sips by put together a curated box of teas for me.  Below is my personalized January Box.

Included in my box:

1.  A muslin bag filled with disposable teabags
2.  Ahmad's Darjeeling Tea, a black tea
3.  Tea Kitten's Tart-tea to the Par-tea, a caffeine-free herbal tea
4.  Savoy Tea Company's Frosted Orange Roll flavored black tea
5.  I.E.'s Green Tea concentrate

I loved Ahmad's Darjeeling.  It was very good, and I must admit that Darjeeling is one of my favorite tea blends.  I will buy this one in the near future.

The Tea Kitten selection tasted like punch, especially with sugar.

Savoy's Frosted Orange Roll tasted like an orange roll.  It reminded me of eating an orange roll after having dipped it in Earl Grey tea.  We loved this blend, especially Mr. Sketchy Reader.  He's recovering from a cold, and this hit the spot for him.  A definite re-order.

I did not care for the green tea concentrate at all, but I don't normally like green tea on a good day, except in ice cream!

I enjoyed this subscription box so much that I decided to subscribe.  (Currently this is the only subscription box I subscribe to because my favorite book subscription box went out of business.)  Mr. Sketchy Reader wants to share!  He likes it, too.  Our February box should be in any day now.

The last thing I want to share with you today is a surprise from one of my favorite Etsy shops, Forget Me Not Bookshop Emma finds old vintage novels and rebinds them in vintage fabric.

Want to see what I purchased?

The illustrated overleaf is so pretty.  I guess I was feeling nostalgic!

I need to re-read this classic soon.

Stop back Friday for a few mini book reviews!

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  2. It seems to take a little while to come back down to earth after a wedding, but you will. Everything seems slow after the being so busy. Our weather hasn't helped for sure. I love forcing bulbs but have to say it's been awhile, seems so easy to get them already prepped. Pretty tea box full of interesting flavors, you'll have to tell me more about that. See you on the first........

  4. I can still remember the after party feeling from my daughter's wedding, or any bigg event such as Christmas, where we plan so many details. Piddling at home is good medicine for the soul, especially with flowers, books, and teas. ♥ Speaking of details, I can see absolutely gorgeous floral arrangements from the wedding party in the snapshots below. Looks like the girls wore Vans slip ons, am I right?

    1. Good eye, but the girls all wore Kate Spade glitter keds. Shanley Belle's were her "something blue."

  6. It is hard to regain normalcy after whirlwind wedding activities, but I know you are looking forward to having more time to paint, read and write. The monthly tea box sounds wonderful...I have been getting subscription art boxes lately, so much fun to get a surprise in the mail!
