Happy summertime, My Lovelies! I can't believe it's been so long since I last blogged, wow.....
One of Shelley's French vocabulary projects
Shanley Belle graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama (roll tide roll). After being accepted into several graduate programs for communicative disorders (including Emerson in Boston), she was awarded a fellowship at Alabama and decided to stay at the Capstone.
Having your daughter graduate Summa Cum Laude on your 50th birthday? *PRICELESS*
I cannot begin to tell you how much I've missed y'all. You just can't even imagine! I haven't been painting or reading much due to lack of time, but this summer and following school year will not be near as hectic.
psssst! I've been working on my Summer Reading List!
I've also been working on a new blog design and schedule. I hope you like it! Schedule, you ask? Let me explain.
I have a variety of interests that I enjoy blogging about, but I know that not all of you share the same interests. So I've decided to "organize" the madness on this blog the best way I know how, and that's with a weekly *menu* of sorts. In the future you can refer to my About page if you get lost and confused here.
Here's the menu:
Artful Mondays: I will share all things relating to my art (oil painting), art journaling, and other creative projects. I will also share other artists' work occasionally.
Random Tuesdays: My blog is already so random enough as it is, however Tuesdays will be fairly fun, I think. Today's post is definitely random!
Pretty Wednesdays: I can't help myself....I like pretty things....
Delicious Thursdays: I'm looking forward to sharing (mostly) healthful recipes. Mr. Art @ Home has joined the Big Green Egg cult. Thursdays might prove to be interesting indeed....
Literary Fridays: Same as before, but I'm not sure if I'll host a linky just yet. That depends on you!
Perspicacity Saturdays: Oh, Saturdays.....I'll share my insight with you on a variety of topics. I know you probably can't wait! :/ (yeah, right.....I'm hearing crickets right now….)
Pretty stuff for Pretty Wednesdays!
I also wanted to point out my social icons below the header. They are updated, but I didn't include Facebook (but I'm not hard to find over there). I've neglected social media almost as bad as blogging, but I do plan to participate more now that I have a bit more free time.
So, what do you think? Do you like my *menu* idea? Or do you think it's stupid and not very "spontaneous." Well, I must confess that I'm not a very spontaneous person. I'm fairly regimented. But I'm hoping that Tuesdays and Saturdays will bring me out of my shell a little, and perhaps you'll get to know me a bit better. (I'm a little nervous....just a little...)
Please leave comments and let me know what you've been up to! Your emails and FB messages have meant a lot to me this year.
Until next time...(which will be tomorrow, promise)...
Blessings!
Ricki Jill
For those of you who don't know, I homeschooled Shelley this year, and she's had a very busy junior year of high school! Her last day of school was Thursday, and we couldn't be happier for summer! Shelley has worked so hard, and I couldn't be prouder of her.

Yay! So glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations galore to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteI love your planned schedule and admire you for your organization skills! Anything you do will be lovely, as always.

Alright you are back!! You should be so proud of your daughters and you too. It has taken a lot of good parenting to get to where you are right now. Way to go girls!!
ReplyDeleteWhistling Past the Graveyard is on my reading list also. A month or so ago, I realized that I wasn't reading books much anymore. Which is just wrong! I made a list and have gotten busy reading and enjoying.
So glad you are back. I don't mind your schedule or just doing whatever you want. Honestly, there are times that you've exposed me to something new. That's a good thing. :)
Holy cannoli (mmm…cannolis), you are back with vengeance! 6 days a week!!! Woohoo! So excited!
ReplyDeleteCongrats and happy belated birthday! What a year you have had. I look forward to your menu of blogging ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on everything and happy belated birthday! What a year you have had. I look forward to your menu of blogging ;)
ReplyDeleteExcited to have you back blogging. Your schedule is ambitious. I'm doing good to get one post a week published.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! And again, congratulations to Shanley Belle. What an accomplishment!
Congrats to Shanley Belle and belated Happy 50th Birthday to you! Looking forward to seeing what you're reading :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new blog look and I love your "menu". I do kind of the same thing only not quite that structured. I think that is VERY smart...it gives you a guideline. I do a New Word Wednesday (something the kids have coined) and I do a Silly Saturday (my take-off) on magazine ads...and I use Sunday for any prayer requests I get...I may have to fill in the other days with something more structured, too. I think it is a GREAT idea...and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the looks of your blog!!!! Welcome home, honey! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love Shelley's French project. How cute! I love how you were able to share your birthday with a very special day for Shanley Belle. I agree, we have to enjoy the time when they all around. They grow up so quickly. I love my Sundays because typically the majority of the children come home for Sunday dinner and then we play games after dinner. We even picked up a few new outdoor games to add and I can see bonfires beginning soon now on Sunday nights.
ReplyDeleteI like the new layout and "menu" idea. Well done and welcome back!
First off, "Happy Birthday, Ricki Jill!" That's quite a fantastic gift you received with your daughter graduating with such honors. I found out I was going to be a "Nana" for the first time on my 50th, and it was twins! Not comparing, just sayin'!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about you and wondering what you think of the Outlander series on STARZ. My hubby and I have been enjoying it so much! My only issue is the seasons are way too short, and we have to wait way too long between them! With all the speculation that went on prior to the first season about who the actors would be, I don't think they could have made better choices for any of the characters. This season's finale had some of the best acting that I've ever seen...just incredible. I really would like to know what you think, now that you know exactly my feelings....lol!
I think your new menu idea is great and should be a lot of fun to follow! Happy summer!
I like the schedule, very creative. Congratulations to your oldest! I love the "cake" trophy. Great that your daughter has already finished this year! Still fixing up the place, but most major projects are done, but still have to do the floor in my room. Daughter is trying to finish up, and at the same time prepare for piano study this summer. She is also dancing for a few weeks before we go.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are back, you have been missed.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to each day to see what fun things you will be sharing, please share more of your fur baby. That is one of the family I always want to see and hear about.

Welcome back and congrats on fitting the word perspicacity in there! :D
ReplyDeleteHi RJ! So good to hear from you today! I had to go back and catch up with you! Love your new design and did I see that you have lightened your hair? So pretty. Happy for you and Shelley that you had a good school year! And congrats to Shanley Belle!
