I could not narrow down my best to only three books this year. Although I have eight books on my list I also read a lot of stinkers, too. So overall, it was an average year for reading: Not outstanding like 2011, but slightly better than 2012.
There are so many books coming out in 2014 that I'm truly excited about. What book releases are you anticipating?
Currently, I'm reading Mermaid.
"When she reached the shore, she closed her eyes and tried to imagine the feel of him under her, the warm, soft skin…She put everything she could into it, that feeling, that memory, to call to him. Never before then has she longed for legs, the strange appendages that allowed men to walk along the earth. Legs that would carry her to him."

Mermaid by Carolyn Turgeoun
What are your favorite books of 2013?
Until next time…
Happy reading!
Ricki Jill
Love lists of great books!
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to add these to my list! Did you see that Books 'n' Bloggers is coming? http://cgswaps.blogspot.com/2014/01/books-n-bloggers-swap-announcement.html
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved Eleanor and Park. I think it was my favorite YA book this year, right next to The Wildflower Series. I have been struggling with my review for Mrs. Poe. My goal is to complete the review for next week.
ReplyDeleteHi Hon!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, how come I have only read "The Ocean At The End Of The Lane," in your list? But! I think I have "The Golem and the Jinni" on hold at library. :-)
An aside... Have books waiting at library, and I am snowed in!!!!!! -moannnnn- I read Si Robertson's book... -grin-
Favorites, for 2013? I haven't even tried to narrow it down. I did manage to read 74 books last year, so I have "a few" to choose from. ,-)
Happy Reading!!!!!
Tessa~
What a beautiful cover for Mermaid!
ReplyDeleteLove that 56, so romantic!!!
Have to check out some of those faves of yours. Every single one of them is in my collection or on my wishlist!
Thanks for joining in, hope to see your regularly. Happy weekend!
I am looking for new reads and was going to library however wasn't sure what to look for.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your list I will check them out possibly
Love your furbaby
Happy New Year 2014
My favorites also included "Looking for Me."
ReplyDeleteYour book beginning was sad, and made me want to read more. Here's MY FRIDAY MEMES POST
I've never read a book about a mermaid, but I enjoyed your Friday 56 selection. The author does a good job of conveying the mermaid's longing. I'm curious about this story.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to my Friday post: A GOOD HOME.
I don't think I have read anything that would make the "favorites" list, but I have read some fun mysteries and a few easy beach reads which made me laugh, but I could easily stop and talk to friends without being annoyed because I was in a great part of my book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for ideas for a reading list
Ricki Jill, I didn't read much this year, but plan to do more reading in 2014. I'm thrilled to have this list of good suggestions. I'm off to reserve a title or two from the library. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteinteresting!
ReplyDeleteHere is my post
Og goodness such great books...I love to read! My new year's resolution is to lose 5lbs. I gained since my g'girl First Communion and to read even more. You've given me such great book tyips. Here to wish you sweet friend a wonderful and happy 2014, along with your lovely family. Thanks for been such a terrific hostess and looking forward to 2014 too.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Well, that's well-timed! My read this week is one of your top favs, and I'm posting another review of your top fav at the end of the month (I'm overloaded right now). The rest of your favs are on my to-read list. :D
ReplyDeleteAAAAA!!! FLAVIA!!!!! Love, love Flavia de Luce!!! Neil Gaiman is the man, even though he needs to quit tweeting about his wife all the time. My fave for the year is The Bookman's Tale by my neighbor, Charlie Lovett. His new book will be about Jane Austen, so I'm waiting impatiently for that.
ReplyDeleteI have so many of these books on my to be read pile. I simply must get to them this year. Your reviews are always wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI read Mermaid a few years back and think I liked it. I read a number by that author so they get a bit muddled and it was before I was doing book reviews. I have a pinboard totally dedicated to inspiration from that book.
I'm looking forward to another year of your reads.
Hugs
Caroline
