Last week, Chris Tomlin made history by being only the fourth Christian singer to hit #1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart during his album Burning Lights' debut week. Although I'm a Christian, I rarely listen to Christian artists. I love the message, but hate the music, unfortunately, because I like the sound of alternative rock. This limits me to basically four or so bands: Flyleaf, Skillet, Relient K, and Creed.
I was discussing my dilemma with Miss Joan, an older lady at church one day, and I was whining about how I didn't understand why there aren't more Christian singers/bands playing the music I like. She looked at me like I was stupid. :/ Then she said, "Honey I can tell you why. It's because THE ENEMY got all the good musicians."
{.....well alrighty then.....}
I listend to Burning Lights, and I liked it overall. Awake My Soul is my favorite track, and the lyrics are on the video.
Chris Tomlin Awake My Soul
What have you been listening to lately?
Until next time...
Blessings!

Brandon Heath, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Third Day...I love so many of them. Do you ever listen to KLove? It is "positive and encouraging". :) It really is. My husband won't listen to it. He says Jesus music at church only.
ReplyDeleteThink more alternative, like Hawk Nelson and Switchfoot.
DeleteHe has a nice sound, and I love the lyric video, it's powerful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and for linking up!
Hi, Ricki
ReplyDeleteLove this song. Have a great day.

I'm on an alternative kick...but I also love the music from Nashville the TV show.
ReplyDeleteI also listened to Mac Davis yesterday. Remember him?
Here's one that I really like to watch as well as listen to, Jack Pearson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLl9gaPlZG4
ReplyDeleteThough this one is not evangelical per se, I find this one to be a very intimate song to the LORD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT26Ri1ukH0

ReplyDeleteI like a lot of different music...just whatever I'm in the mood for. I sure love your new banner and font for your title. So fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI just got an iPhone and downloaded the Pandora app. I've been listing to Pure Prairie League and Michael Buble...what a pair!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds a little like Michael W Smith, in his early days. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeletei like
ReplyDeleteOh I liked that. I've been listening to Carrie Underwood this week ... two black cadillacs
ReplyDeleteYou remind me so much of my DH when you say, I like the message not the music. Christian rock I can get into, even inspirational Christian. I'm a rock n' roll girl at heart and listen to secular tunes more than I do anything else, but God's message lives in my life.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the well wishes for DD#2. She going to have an X-Ray today to see how the fluid looks on her lungs. I hope it's going away. Your continued prayers are appreciated.
Chris Tomlin does a great job at capturing the rock n' roll essence in his music. I don't care for the RAP (it's not offense, but I hate RAP period) would discourage me from buying Awake My Soul, I think.
I see you participate in a weekly music meme. I'm definitely going to go by & grab that the Musical Mondays button and put it up on my blog for all my friends who like this sort of thing , too, and if you enjoy this kind of blog hops, then you may want to join us on the virtual dance floor on Monday's Music Moves Me. Come take a peak at my musical post entitled, Dancing in the Rain.
Have a melodious week, my friend!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D17p0D-rks I see an interruption in my link above. Today I wanted to share one that gets me so pumped up by Crooked Still, "Aint No Grave'. Thanks for the visit, see you soon, Aloha Ral
