Alison @ The Polo House is hosting Favorites on the First. This month, the focus is vacation spots!
I have several favorite vacation spots: Beaver Creek, Colorado; Inverness, Scotland; Florence, Italy; and Paris, France. But my favorite getaway that is only about five hours away is Seaside, Florida.
If Seaside were a little closer to us, we would have a vacation home there rather than a lake cabin! Mr. Art @ Home and I would love to move to Seaside once Shelley finishes high school. :D
Here are a few photos from Seaside's Facebook page.

Seaside is the home of sugar-white sand beaches! Seaside is on the Florida Panhandle.
Seaside is famous for its architecture. I love the beach cottages.
You can get all kinds of wonderful treats, from sushi to dipped cones at one of several classic Airstreams lining the beachside sidewalk.
Modica Market is one of the most perfectly stocked gourmet grocery stores in the South. I love waking up and riding my bike to Modica for cappuccino and a pastry.
Sundog Books is a fantastic Indie Bookstore. The well-read staff has never steered me wrong with their book recommendations. I will share with you their Book Club reading list in another post.

Is this little town looking familiar to you? It was the set for The Truman Show, starring Jim Carey.

You can see Seaside in some of the scenes.
Shelley was looking at Seaside rental cottages online yesterday. We will head down at some point soon!
Until next time...
Blessings!

what a great place
ReplyDeleteSeaside looks like a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteSeaside looks like the perfect getaway! A gourmet market and indie bookstore near cottages with white sand beaches sounds like the best of both worlds! I love the Airstream :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally see why you love this place!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has been wanting to take me to Seaside for years! Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing! I want to go there!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the perfect vacation spot to me :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love Seaside! I would love to live there too. I miss Destin. :D
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, have lots of friends who have spent time at Seaside each summer. It sounds like a wonderful spot. I was in Destin for a week a few summers ago. My first time to the Florida Gulf. It was gorgeous and the beaches were much nicer than the Texas Gulf where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the photos. ~ Sarah
That is such an idyllic spot, Ricki Jill!
ReplyDeleteEvery photo you shared is pulled right from the pages in my mind in an imaginary file folder of "small beach town cottage perfection"!! Right?
Too cute. Have been to Panama City Beach nearby once when I was in college. The sand looked like snow and I thought maybe that is where the public ashtray sand must have come from!
Boy, you certainly don't see many of those around these days now, do you!?
Thanks for sharing.
I will have to stop by there one day
and check it out.
Looks like my kind of place!

Love the photos/images from Seaside. It looks like a relaxing spot for a vacation. Love the idea of riding a bicycle to pick up cappaccino and pastry

Seaside is also one of my favorite spots. We lived in Destin for eleven years and spent many days there.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great spots out there! I really hope to be able to get a Tuscany villa rental soon. I have friends who have gone and they do nothing but rave at what a unique experience it is since they have gotten back.
