*Art Show Update*
Today was the 'Lil Calypso Art Show at Chuck's Marina, and sadly it rained. I could not risk ruining my little mini paintings, so I had to pack up and leave. The show benefited the volunteer fire department, and I am sad that the weather caused a low turnout. This is why I don't normally participate in outdoor shows here in Alabama, but I wanted to support my friend Jane (the show's organizer) and the fire department.
Here is my display that stayed up for maybe an hour.
Ellen let me borrow her cute little golden glitter tree. Some of my minis were hanging on it. The rest are on the table.
I love this frame! I need to reorder more. This little painting is called "Dutch Master Wannabe."
Shanley Belle and I are responsible for snacks at our outdoor church tomorrow, and it is so hard to plan because lots of folks decided not to come to the lake this weekend due to the weather.
But, on a happier note, I have a new mini page at the top of my blog. You can see several of my minis posted on that page. Please let me know which paintings you like best. Y'all can be my research and development team ;P
I appreciate your support the past few weeks while I have been preparing for the show. Your kind comments and words of encouragement have meant the world to me!
I also want to thank all of you who linked-up to Literary Friday and Summer Smashing. Y'all are the best!

Mom was *the most* talented artist at that show, by the way. Not a biased statement, just tellin' the truth.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for my oleander painting!!! :D
So sorry to hear about the rain on your show. :( We passed through Georgia and into Florida today (from S. Carolina) and had all kinds of weird weather: some sun and lots of very heavy rain.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear it rained on the art show, your work is truly beautiful,
ReplyDeleteMother Nature can be cruel sometimes. I'm glad you packed up and left! All You pictures are GORGEOUS! I have a hard time picking a favorite...
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs to you,
Donna
It is a shame that it rained. I know you would have sold all your paintings.
ReplyDeleteYep, we were out when it started raining. Got soaked. And of course I'd promised the girls we would go to the pool.
ReplyDeletethank you so much for your super kind comment on my blog. I get most of my supplies from Alpha Stamps (online) I made the backgrounds of both of the houses and frequently I print royalty free images off the internet. We should get together and you can teach me to paint and I can teach you to assemble art.
Have a great weekend and I hope you get to sell your paintings soon.
I love your minis, sugar. Just the right size to paint and also to fill in a small space on the wall when needed. Beautiful!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Connie
So Sorry for the bad weather, Your minis are great. Smalls always sell well since you have more places to use them. I love the frames you chose, Good Luck. It has been terrible weather here for two days, we needed the rain but in moderation would have been nice. Take Care and stay dry. Kathy
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hate to hear that. It's rainy here too. I'm in the left end of the white arch on your map (near New Orleans). I left my "favorite minis" comment on your mini page. Have you ever considered opening an etsy shop to sell your paintings? I'll be your first buyer :)
ReplyDeleteI love your art! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, why does the rain have to ruin everything? I so hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteI went over to your mini page, all set to pick out my favorites. Yeah, right. With each scroll, I found another, then another & another. I would never be able to decide on a favorite. They are such pretty little masterpieces!
Ah! I love the blues in the Lamb's Ears painting! :D I'm sorry it got rained out, but I know there will be more shows for your minis this year. If you ever sell them online, let me know. :)
ReplyDeleteYour display looked great, and it looks like a lovely venue. Too bad the rain had to spoil the day.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's too bad that it rained, Ricki Jill. Your mini paintings are so pretty, and the display you set up is wonderful.

I am so sorry about the rain. Boy are you getting hit. Your display was so perfect too.
ReplyDeleteHi Ricki! Thank you for linking up with my Beautiful Sunday series. It really made me happy!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember your comment where you accidentally used Shanley's account. You made me LOL about that.
Even though it rained, I believe you are still lucky because you were given an hour to showcase your hard worked paintings. How I wish I was there to see it. But I agree with Shanley, your are really blessed with such a great talent.
I checked our your mini page and here are my choices
Plum Cute, Bouquet of Lamb, Summer Reading, Shabby Chic Dream and Strawberries and Peonies.
Wishing you a great week ahead!
Your paintings are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the weather messed up the plans. It looks like you've got a lot more wet weather ahead, darn it!
Enjoy your day.
Pam
What a bummer the rain kept so many people away, but how awesome that you did it! The display looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHopped on over to the minis page and these are my faves:
Honey and her Friends, Vampire's Nightmare, Pear Cuddles Copper Pot, and Summer Reading (a blog favorite it seems).
All are super gorgeous, and the frames are great too. On my way to link up to one of your parties.
Bummer! But I bet your friend was even more disappointed than you. All that work to plan the event... UGH!
ReplyDeleteI love these little gems. :)

Too bad about the weather. I am heading over to your minis page....great idea RJ.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry it rained and you had to leave. You just never

Huggers,

Sorry about the rain. It was their loss, as they didn't get to see your gorgeous art work. Your are truly gifted!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
seriously, i can't believe you paint these yourself. they look almost fake! seriously, if i've never told you your art is beyond beautiful...i'm telling you now. gorgeous.
ReplyDeletehow much are your minis??
Your paintings are beautiful, Ricki, love the frames too. Too bad it rained....Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame about the weather, I love all your miniatures in different ways.
ReplyDeleteI admire your talent for painting. The Lamb's Ears and Peonies painting is lovely. I'm sure all the others are similarly nice, too. Selling outdoors is fun but the weather can throw some kinks into the best laid plans, as you are well aware. I had to change some plans for this week due to predicted heavy rain and storms. Have a great week! If you do parties, join us tonight for Cozy Home Party and June 17-23 for the Grill, BBQ and Picnic Party.------------ Shannon
ReplyDeleteHi Ricki Jill, thanks for stopping by the blog today. I thought I would wander over and see what you've been up to as well. So glad I did! I love your mini's and I'm a bit jealous- it's one of the many things I've always wanted to do but just never seem to get to. It's too bad about the weather- you probably would have sold out- they are truly little masterpieces!
ReplyDeleteI hate that you are putting me on the spot like this!! They are all amazing!! But the painting I like is Shabby Chic dream. But I like the name Vampire's nightmare, and that painting is awesome too!!
ReplyDeleteWhen did you go blonde? I've been not as active blogging for a few weeks and you transformed!!!! You look gorgeous!
xxD
Your mini paintings are all so beautiful. I love the Dutch Master Wannabe. Love the colors in it.
ReplyDeleteCarole (Stapes)
You have given us such a difficult task...How can we pick when they are all so beautiful...Love them all...But if I must pick then I would say the my most favorite ones are "Blackberry Lemonade", "Blue Coffee Pot with Pink Roses", "Shabby Chic Dream", "Winter Apple Marries Yellow Onion", and "She's a Tall Drink of Water". Beautiful work my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses,
♥Ana

ReplyDeleteI never knew you painted--these are so beautiful! Your brushstrokes are fabulous. Sorry you got rained out, though! It's been weird weather lately, hasn't it?
