I try to keep my blog a positive place....truly I do!!! *But* this week has been chaotic. My youngest has been in a riding day camp, and the hours have been cut and moved up earlier in the day due to the high temperatures. So I am spending a big chunk of my morning driving back and forth to the barn. Twice.
PLUS we have furniture and *stuff* all over the darn place because we are working on two really big projects..... during the summer....... We are idiots. :/
Our neighbors have dug up their entire front yard, including the sidewalk. We have been without internet because the cable was cut. The little tiny bit of blogging I am doing is from Starbucks before my barn trips.
So without further ado, here are my Independence Day decorations...let's look in the dining room first:
Pitiful. Just pitiful. But I am also trying to keep it real around here!
Disclaimer: I am truly a Patriot. I love my country, and I love Independence Day. But I have furniture in our foyer, an empty room upstairs, and paintings and books all over my art studio. We are living in chaos for the next several weeks! But that's okay. We will get everything done. Eventually.
I linked-up to a couple of parties, and I did get to visit maybe half a dozen blogs. I will join other link parties and visit my blog buddies when our cable is fixed. Plus, I am going to miss Dallas tonight *sadface* I can't spend all of my time at Starbucks because I need to finish these projects!!! MEH!!!!
Literary Friday will go on as scheduled Friday morning {even if I have to go to Starbucks} at 8:00 AM CDT. I hope to see you there!
Until next time...
Blessings!

See the runner? I bought it on sale 50% off a while back {Pier 1}. That's it!
Here is a close-up of the runner....I spy green and yellow on it....whatev...
Now let's look in the kitchen:
I bought these patriotic placemats in Nashville 23 years ago. Very country. Yep!
Look! Red, white, and blue bowls!!! :/

The fact that you even managed to take some of your red, white & blue decor out among all that's going on, shows your patriotic spirit! Hang in there Ricki, it'll all be worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very cute, Ricki! I haven't done anything...is it too late? heehee!
ReplyDeleteO dear is sounds like it's going a bit crazy there by you ... hope it all gets back to normal soon!
ReplyDeleteAnch'io ho sempre tanto da fare!Le tue decorazioni per luglio sono carinissime!Baci,Rosetta
ReplyDeleteDon't beat yourself up RJ....remember....less is more?? :)
ReplyDeleteI love that table runner. You are so funny. It is not pitiful but lovely and bright. Have a wonderful 4th. We leave tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI see I am not the only one...I did put a wreath out on the front door ;)
ReplyDeletesounds pretty crazy around there, hope the summer goes by fast and that heat breaks for you soon.
OOO, isn't Dallas soooooooo good. I am addicted. I have to dvr it ;)
Amy
You are way ahead of me! I haven't done any decorating for the 4 th! I understand tho, I use a quarter tank of gas yesterday running to "town" twice, and out to a friends house twice. At least the tank of gas was only $2.91 a gallon!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ricki,
ReplyDeleteDon't worry - at least you have decor up - I don't have any, and I didn't even plan on decorating this year! lol And I can totally relate when you talk about having to drive back and forth, it is the same way this summer with my two boys! I often feel like a taxi driver at times! lol Anyway, love what you've done to your house so far. Take care and enjoy your week.
Cheers,
Jessie
You are ahead of me with the red, white and blue. I love the decorations but I don't have any! I think I have one star placemat somewhere. We just put out the flag and that is it. I really should try harder!
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill,
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. We decided to paint our family room and kitchen this week so we have chaos as well, plus, with the 4th being a Wednesday it seems like a one day event instead of the usual 3 day extravaganza. Our realtor in the neighborhood places a flag on the corner of every driveway, which always looks so cute. Enjoy your week, your kitchen table looks great.
Karen
cute i haven't decorated at all this year i'm so bad
ReplyDeleteIn honor of your chaos, I will drag myself to the base, ent and get it whatever fourth flair I have. I think I saw the box the other day, but neglected to realize/accept that it is next week!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, sweetie! *hugs*
ReplyDeleteIt does not look bad at all Ricki. It is simple and simplicity is beauty. BTW, I love your plate rack on the wall...Christine
ReplyDeleteNo cable, no Internet, and in the car would make me complain also. Love your paintings!!!! Did you study art?
ReplyDeleteAll my red, white and blue decorations are still in a tub in the basement...this weekends job is to get it up and out! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteVery cool-I haven't done anything yet.
ReplyDeleteLove your red, white and blue decor! Especially the placemats. I have two rooms cluttered as I sort though all my linens. And I had to break to clean my interior windows - I'm having a guy come next week to do the exterior windows. I have to get the carpets cleaned along with some landscaping that needs to be scheduled. It's a busy summer but we, and you with your projects, will be happy with the results.
