Painting @ Ellen's House

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

I painted with Ellen in her cute studio at her house on Monday.  I love Ellen's neighborhood; it is one of my favorites in Birmingham, and it is not far from my house.  The houses are all like storybook cottages:

Here is Ellen painting in her studio.  I met Ellen in art class, and she is too much dang fun.  We will probably paint together outside of class once or twice a week.

Ellen has a very distinctive style.  I want to share some of my favorite paintings of Ellen's:

I love Ellen's puppies.  She truly knows how to capture their personalities.

You know how much I love red, so Ellen's pomegranate is my favorite!

This is what I'm currently working on.  It is a kitchen in Provence, and I have only painted a little over one coat.  I am painting on linen, and I am loving the texture so far!

Yesterday we had numerous storms, one after the other.  It was too dark for me to paint at home because I still have not bought an overhead light for the studio.  Our internet was sketchy all day, too, so I did not get to blog much at all.

Today is sunny and gorgeous again (like Monday), and I went to art class and had a nice lunch with Mr. Art @ Home.

How is your week going so far?

Until next time...

Blessings!

  7. You both have major talent- I used to paint, but now it's all I can do to get a stick figure in now and then. ;-)

It's wonderful that you will be getting together to paint after the class is over.

  11. I'm so jealous of people who can paint. I come from a family of artists, but the drawing gene passed me by. I love your work. How nice that you have met someone to share your painting time with.

Can't wait to see your finished scape.
Do you sell your paintings or are they just for your fun.

  24. Hello, I'm on a blog hop from Katherines and just catching up on some of the late attendees. TFS the beautiful photos. What a grand and lovely house. I have had a couple of painting classes and loved it to bits, but I am not a confident painter as I cannot paint at all yet. I hope to be able to one day and then I might meet a lovely friend just like you. I love your painting BTW and you say its on linen material. Wow. Mind if I follow your blog?

  25. Ricki Jill that painting you are working on is just lovely. I love the tightness...it reminds me of Johannes Vermeer the 16th century Dutch painter. I too love Ellen's pomegranate.
