The Mighty Vinca

I love vincas.  They are superstars during our long hot summers here in Alabama.  This is one of my pots filled with them.

They are tough little guys!

How is your garden growing?  My hydrangeas are still angry, but everything else is looking nice.  I need to deadhead them, but do you see the sunshine in this picture?  It lasted for about ten minutes, and then we got yet another round of showers and thunderstorms.  Our lawn is even looking nice and green again thanks to all the rain!

If anyone has any helpful tips on deadheading hydrangeas, I would appreciate your sharing them with me!

    Those are super pretty Ricki. My gardens are OK, nothing like my Moms though that I posted yesterday, if you want to see a true gardener. Have a great day!

    Hi Ricki! While you are enjoying summer and the blooms in Alabama, we are currently stricken by typhoons here. I think we also have vincas here but not in our home. We have it in colder areas in the Philippines

    Vinca like our hot summers too. Wish we would get some of that rain but at least we have very little humidity.

    Vinca is very mighty!! I have always had them in my flower beds, and even if I pull them out by the root, they always come back!! And they also dig themselves in from both ends, the root end and the other end! You can practically set them on fire and they still come back!! This has annoyed me many times. So, I cut they back like every other day, to keep them from growing like crazy!! OK. Maybe not every other day,,,,,but I should!!!

    Yours look great. My vincas are doing better than anything I have! This super hot weather doesn't seem to bother them much.

    Love your flower pot Ricki! My flower boxes are doing good here and with all the rain we have had lately I don't even have to water much.

    I'm watching "Game of Thrones" on HBO and love it. Then I discovered the TV Series is based on the fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin "...a saga called "A Song for Ice and Fire". There are four books...thick books (I love thick books). I just finished the first book. I think I love to read even more than crocheting.

    I have Vinca's too here in Southern California. They do very well and seem to thrive in the heat. I'm excited about my water lily's starting to sprout in my water feature.

    thats lovely,, I love Vinca as well, it grew in my flower beds and loved partial sun,, yours looks a bit different but I'm 1000 miles from you or more!We certainly don't have your heat.Sorry, I know nothing of the carefor hydrangeas,, never grew them, I love them though,

    hmmmm do you have a farmer close by? some really nice fresh poo might help your hydrangeas???

    Your pot is beautiful! I have never had much luck with Hydranges, location I guess! so I am of no help there. My pots have done so well/??? that I have had to re-pot several of them due to growth and put in larger pots. I guess, the rain, hot, hot, hot, and now rain again! We are suppose to get great weather for the next couple of days, so I'm looking forward to that! Thanks for sharing, your pots are georgous!

    Little vincas are such "work horses"...I once read that every time you plant something white, it's the first thing you see in the morning light and the last thing you see in the evening! I leave the hydrangeas on the bush and cut them after they've dried for fall arrangements.

    Lovely!I need vinca around here, if they love "HOT WEATHER", they would do well in the southeast part of Georgia too. We got some rain yesterday, you know we been having fire,after fire and the smoke is terrible, Mr says he is tired of working in smoke.Prayers that this rain will completely put out the fires in the swamp(Okefenokee)
