Thursday Thoughts

Jo from Lazyonloblolly tagged me to answer a few questions about myself.  ;P

1. If you have pets, do you see them as merely animals, or are they members of your family?
Bonnie Blue, our Westie, is definitely a member of our family.  She is a rescue pup, and I think she has rescued us *giggles*

2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
My dream is to see both daughters grown and happy.  My hope is that they will both make good choices and find true joy in what they do everyday.

3. What is the one thing most hated by you?
I hate it when girls and women are mean to each other over petty, inconsequential things.

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?
I would give almost all of it to United Cerebral Palsy.  Our youngest daughter has CP, and we are so fortunate and blessed that she has achieved so much.  She is a hard little worker, and I am grateful for the dozens of teachers and therapists, both private and public, who have worked with her, so I would give the money to UCP out of gratitude.

5. What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?
My husband because he is so funny.  He can always make me laugh, and he smugly likes having that power over me.

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
Loving someone requires courage, and being loved by someone requires acceptance, so I guess the former.

7. What is your bedtime routine?
Take my daughter's laptop downstairs so she won't be on FB all night; read a couple of chapters in whatever book I am reading; drink some sleepy time tea.

8. If you are currently in a relationship, how did you meet your partner?
I have been married for twenty-three years to my college boyfriend.  We met at a sorority/fraternity swap (mixer).

9. If you could watch a creative person in the act of the creative process, who would it be?
I would like to watch William Shakespeare's first staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream, from the first rehearsals to the opening night.  And then I would want to be a groundling and heckle Titania :D

10. What kinds of books do you read?
I read everything, but I like literature, historical fiction, and I have been reading urban fantasy and science fiction lately, too. I tend to be a bit of a literary snob. Please read and comment on my Literary Friday posts!

11. How would you see yourself in ten years time?
Thinner.  I am an optimist!  I might be in business with my younger daughter.

12. What's your fear?
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you.  Do not be dismayed for I am your God." Isaiah 41:10.  It's never a good idea to articulate a fear.  Never, never.

13. Would you give up all junk food for the rest of your life for the opportunity to visit outer space?
Do aliens have junk food in outer space?  :/

14. Would you rather be single and rich or married, but poor .
My husband and I were poor when we were married.  Been there, done that.

15. What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
Kiss my husband and get up to make hot tea for the family, and check emails.

 16. If you could change one thing about your spouse/partner what would it be?
Nothing.

17. If you could pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?
Astrid.

18. Would you forgive and forget no matter how horrible a thing that special
someone has done?
I would hope so!  The forgetting is the hardest part!

19. If you could only eat one thing for the next 6 months, what would it be?
I am allergic to everything, so I would probably be dead from anaphylaxis shock eating the same thing everyday.  But if I had to choose, I guess eggs, because they can be cooked a variety of ways, and they are a good source for protein.

  4. Oh you made me smile this morning with your box of Sleepytime tea. It brings back memories of my late husband from before we were married. He would always have that with honey before bedtime. Can't help but think of him when I see that box.;)

I enjoyed learning more about you. You are so practical and healthy with your eggs for six months. I was thinking more along the lines of chocolate...

  11. I loved this post and learning more about you. I feel we are old souls who should be neighbors. I will play along when I get five minutes to think that much about myself. Hmmm!

  12. How fun - I'll have to play along soon. The notion about never verbalizing your fear has me thinking. I had never thought of that concept before. Knowing the Lord is with me, yes, but not naming the fear - thought provoking!

Loved reading your answers and getting to know more about you. Thanks for sharing and for brightening my day today ... it's cold, windy and snowing again :( But after learning about the earthquake in Japan, I'm not complaining.
