Mardi Gras Treats

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Mardi Gras is only two weeks from today (yikes)!  So I'm planning on some fun after school treats for the big day since we'll be home on Fat Tuesday.  I just need to decide on the two or three to make.

From Catholic Icing, these Mardi Gras pretzels are easy and fun.

From HGTV, these macaroons are gluten-free.

Moon Pies are an Alabama Mardi Gras tradition, and are often thrown from floats in Mobile.  This cute Moon Pie Cake tutorial and printable is from Belly Feathers.

These mini king cake cupcakes are like mini coffee cakes, and would be great for breakfast.

Finally, for those of you who want a healthy treat for Mardi Gras, here's a healthy smoothie that looks appropriate for the day.

Since I pretty much "punted" all things Valentine's Day around here, I hope to do a better job with Mardi Gras for my family.  I will be decorating later on in the week, and I'll certainly share our decor with you.

Until next time…

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. These are all really great ideas for Mardi Gras! Thanks for sharing them. I let Valentine's go by without much decorating at all too so I am gearing up to re-use some St. Patrick's Day decor from last year...my daughter thinks my past Mardi Gras decor is tacky. Laizssez les bons temps rouler!

  3. Oh yum! I'm coming over to your house. I was thinking of making Mardi Gras cupcakes I'll have to check out that recipe. But wow that smoothie looks great! We just got back from a weekend trip to New Orleans, they had started to put up Mardi Gras decorations. I can't wait to see how you decorate.

  5. Looks like you've got lots of yummies to celebrate with Ricki! I remember my grandmother that lived in New Orleans sending us a Mardi Gras package each year. Lots of beads and fun stuff:) and we always looked forward to it!

  6. I have never done anything for Mardi Gras, but your sweet cookies are calling me to make them. Maybe I will give them a try.

  7. Now that’s a hard decision! All look gorgeous and fun and I’m sure delicious. If I decide to serve treats for a little Mardi Gras tea I’ll visit the bakery this time. Finally getting a little sunny weather and I can’t wait to be outside. I feel a visit to the garden center coming on............I know it’s early but spring is buzzing around in my head! You sound wonderful, glad you are feeling better.

    How you doing?
After my little Penny died after 3 weeks we went to the local animal shelter and I found my little Sophie, a 2 year old Llaso Apso that they found outside in winter in NY.... and I adopted her and she has been with us for 3 years now.... of course no one will ever replace Penny... sometimes I tell Sophie about "Aunt Penny"....

  13. Oh WOW Ricki Jill.
It will sure be a fun time at your place.
Mardi Gras falls on my B-day this year, so I am a little sad that I won't be able to just go out for a quiet night, this town will be full of partiers :(

  14. mmh looks good! I would vote for the Mardi Gras pretzels, the macaroons and the moon pies! But if you have the time why not make it all ;)

They now sell macaroons at Macdonalds here in Beglium and in France.
