Wit and Whimsy: Brass is Back!!! {seriously.}

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Since we have a brass-based dining table from the early eighties, imagine how happy I was to read that House Beautiful predicts the return of brass as a leading trend in decor for 2013.  YAY!

The aged brass coffee table and newer brass candlesticks work in this room.

I also noticed a mercury glass vase and a mirrored fireplace surround.  What do you think about the surround?

What do you think about the return of brass?

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. My mom used to collect brass figures. Never my favorite. I hope you all are hanging in there. My prayers are with you. Merry Christmas my friend.

  2. After years of poo-pooing brass I hate to admit it is starting to grow on me.

  3. Brass never left for me! I have a few old brass candlesticks that I have displayed for years. They have mellow patinas, so not shiny like the ones in the photo. I never worry about what's in and out. I just use what I like! I don't think I'm loving that fireplace surround in that room. It seems too modern for the mantel. What do you think?

  8. I've always loved brass; I even enjoying the cleaning of brass (but perhaps that's because I don't have a lot of it). Yay for brass!

  9. I love brass! I know that makes me cheap, but I actually like the tone of brass better than gold. Especially when you pair brass with a good green or blue shade. Soooo pretty. :D

  11. Always loved brass, especially the more tarnished variety. I love the mercury glass but could do without the mirrored fireplace surround.

  12. Hi Ricki Jill, I think the return of brass is great, especially since I have a house full of it! Seriously I love it but I think it dates my house. One of these days...........
    Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
