Dining Alfresco

Saturday, April 28, 2012

Last weekend was so pretty, and we wanted to enjoy our meals alfresco.  But there was one problem: the wind!  It was way too windy, and the wind destroyed our outdoor umbrella that was only a year old!  I found a few gorgeous settings for alfresco dining online.  Although I have seen some of these gorgeous photos on some of your blogs, they were pretty enough to enjoy again.

Wish us luck this weekend as I am still dreaming about eating our first meals outside this season.  Mr. Art @ Home already replaced our umbrella.  :D

Will you be dining alfresco this weekend?

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. Gorgeous setting Ricki,
So Happy you got your umbrella back... After years of replacing ours NOW I choose Iron Gazebos and trellises that I can DRAPE in pretty fabrics to shade the sun when I need to... You can buy bolts of fabrics and don't even need to finish them... Then I MOVE the drape according to the position of the sun! ALSO, iron framing is SO FORGIVING when it comes to winds and weather...It all passes through it...
We have been getting some VERY CHILLY weather here, ALTHOUGH the gardens don't seem to mind. I will ACTUALLY be wearing my WINTER coat to do my errands today! AND YES, we are getting those winds too...
    Have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND,

  6. One of the joys of summer here too. We usually have a big rib bbq on Mem. Day and that kicks it off for us. Enjoy!!

  7. No alfresco dining going on here! It was 27 degrees this morning!!! Although I have to say that while looking at those images, I let out a big *sigh*.

  8. Gina must live in the NW, too. We have had very cold nights and our days haven't been much warmer. It wouldn't matter anyway, because it rains - and rains, and rains.
I have been watching for things to put out and use when it finally stops raining next summer. Thursday there were gusts of wind that seemed like i mini-tornado. It only lasted a few minutes but it was long enough to remind us of one of the reasons why we DON'T live in the midwest or south any more!
I hope you get to enjoy your time outside under your new umbrella.

  9. Aww, that is exactly why dining outdoor here is such a chore.
    That darn wind.

    These dining places look dreamy.

I just love the glowing lights in the evening sunset.

  11. They always look so perfect in pictures, don't they! Truth be known they probably were fighting mosquitoes, rain, or winds like you were, hang in the perfect night will come!

  13. Inspirational! I am afraid I like the idea of dining alfresco more than the actuality... I can't make all the trips out and in with my arthritis.... But I eat outside in my daydreams with you!

  14. I LOVE dining al fresco! My family used to do that a lot, back in San Diego, but of course it's more magical when there are trees and grass and flowers around (instead of desert). I have a balcony that I will be dining al fresco on...in a few months, maybe, when the weather is nice enough! Something about the idea of eating out in nature is so spectacular to me.

I hope the wind dies down so you can fulfill that dream! :)

  15. You have reminded me to eat outdoors a few times more before it gets too hot here.

Thank you for your kind comments.

I will be having a Mother's Day giveaway this next Friday with glimpses of whats up for grabs all this week. :)

  17. Yeah for Mr. Art...... we had a bad year last season, lost the umbrella to the wind, then a month later the wind took the new one too! I think I need a concrete umbrella.
