My Happy List is short and sweet this week. We have been busy this past week because it has been my eldest daughter's Fall Break! It was so nice having Shanley Belle home for several days.
My Happy List
1. We got to spend some time with Shanley Belle! Family time makes me so happy! We also got to spend some time with Shanley's roommate, Caitlin, too. Caitlin is one of Shanley's best friends from her art high school. I am so happy they are roommates!
2. There is already a chill in the air. Now is the time to pack a thermos of hot coffee for after school horseback riding lessons at the barn. Delicious coffee makes me so happy! I have a new coffee company I want to share with you:
I love the names of their blends. Here are two I have tried:
I bought the Wicked Wolf. It is a new favorite, and it will accompany me to the barn this week!
3. Sometimes the best opportunity I have to read all week is while I wait for Shelley to clean tack and groom horses after lessons. I am so happy that the latest Flavia de Luce novel is out today, November 1st. Flavia de Luce mysteries make me so very happy! If you have not heard about this delightful series by Alan Bradley, let me give you a little information that might just make you want to run out and buy all four books in the series....
The year is 1950, and the setting is a spooky English manor called Buckshaw. Flavia de Luce is an eleven year old genius who has discovered her Victorian uncle's old chemistry lab in one wing of the mansion. Not only does Flavia have a penchant for chemistry, but she has a penchant for distilling poisons, too. She tries to poison one of her obnoxious older sisters by placing poison in her lipstick in the first book. But fortunately, Flavia tends to use her genius for good as she is a prodigy detective solving every murder committed in the tiny village of Bishop's Lacy.
Please take the time to watch this book trailer for Flavia's latest mystery, I Am Half-Sick of Shadows.
