I enjoy seeing the Benjamin Moore paint trends every year. One of the trends that has caught my eye this year is Escape. The quest for hope and escape from harsh realities prompted the paint maker to turn to more dreamlike frosted, opalescent colors as its Escape theme. Metallic finishes and soft textures are featured as part of this kinder, gentler look. Here are some examples:
I love the dream-like quality of this kitchen. But I wonder if cooking a large pot of spaghetti sauce would break the spell?
The bedroom is pretty, but I think the colors are a bit masculine and earthy for my tastes.
I love the faux tin paint treatment on the ceiling in this kitchen. Perfection!
Pink, gray, and cream look lovely together, and I like the bit of shimmer on the walls of this dining room.
I really like this trend, so I wanted to share how we translated the look in our family room. I liked the way the sun was hitting our feature wall in our great room, and thought it looked neat. I painted it with Benjamin Moore's Golden Straw with Benjamin Moore's metallic glaze in gold sponged over it.
What are your thoughts about this trend? Would it work in your home?

I love the blueish hues in the first picture. Cheers
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at the first photo, I thought this is not for me. However, by the time we got to the tin ceiling, then the pink walls, then your fireplace wall, I was sold! I like the softness, almost haziness, of it. Although, I think it might look silly in my old house.
ReplyDeleteI love your gold wall with the sponge glaze over it. It looks great, all homey and comfy. I really need to paint, but wallpaper must come down and I don't know if I'm up for it. Great ideas, makes me think... I also like the tin ceiling a lot...
ReplyDeleteI love glazes. Your room is so lovely. Can you imagine my house with white sofas? I am afraid of white around here. Love yours and that hanging lamp is so cute. Okay going to put your button on again and see if it works this time.
ReplyDeleteHI Ricki!!
ReplyDeleteLove that kitchen! Your family room is gorgeous and love the MC fixture!
I am not going to follow this trend...the house i am living in is painted with the trends from the early 90's lots of faux finishes...the colours are so intense. I have yet to show all of you the family bathroom that she painted! Looks like she took a can of red and white paint and splattered the walls. Yes this home has trended me out!
OH by the way i picked up the book The Help and i love it!!!! I cannot put it down. Too bad i am working so much because all i want to do is read it!!

I love those colors. Especially the kitchen, until I cooked in it once and then ruined it's sparkly cleanness. :) Your home is beautiful! I like how you've painted it, looks like an elegant room, but comfy too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting new paint treatments this season.
ReplyDeleteLove the white kitchen with the faux tin ceiling.
I like the metallic trend, and I do like your living room finish!
ReplyDeleteOOOOoooo!! I think I like this trend!! I just don't know if I could do it in my house. Like you said, me and 1 man and 2 boys would really break that spell!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like to think the blogger gremlins ate our followers!!!!

I love this trend. I've wanted to do the ceiling in my kitchen just like that for quite awhile. I just have not worked up the courage to work overhead for an extended period or it already would have been done. I've also been wanting a silver leaf ceiling in the hall bath. I especially like this trend in a dining room. Love it in your living room! Thanks for sharing this at Mod Mix Monday!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out realy nice. That light fixture really adds to your room. I haven't decorated much since I started our blog. Thanks for reminding me that you can do both.

That is great! Faux tin ceiling, I would love to see a tutorial on that! I am old enough that I have already done some metallic in a past life....the 80's I am not so sure I will do it again, but watch, I'll be doing metallic suitcases LOL!
