Happy Tuesday AND December, My Lovelies! Today I'm joining Sweet Rita from the Panoply Blog and a few other stylist to share Christmas tablescapes.
Mine is very simple. It's a miracle I was able to pull anything off, y'all. I am grieving for my friend Jenna's passing. My best friend is fighting cancer, and after a stint in the hospital last week, they moved her to the same facility, the same hallway, only two doors down from where Jenna was living. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Plus our dog Finlay had to have eye surgery a few weeks ago, and he can't be left alone. It has been a struggle to schedule someone at home with him at all times since the beginning of October. Plus my mom is declining rapidly, and to top it all off: we are going through a major renovation of four rooms in our home.
This is not an excuse for why my table is so simple this year....it's an explanation. I'm just trying to keep it real. But I am pleased with the table because even though it's simple, I think it's pretty. Also, I think it's important to find your joy in the midst of sadness and upheaval.
Because I've had very little free time, I am using mostly things I've had. The tablecloth, however, is brand new. I bought it to go with the napkins I purchased last year. Each corner has evergreen trees on it:
I also like the ruffled edge on the tablecloth.
The evergreen theme is continued on the Welsh dresser with the Anthropologie tea set.
The plate stacks are simple: Williams-Sonoma evergreen salad plates on MacKenzie-Childs flat dinner plates.
I'm a little disappointed that my roses didn't open up a little more because usually this variety opens up nicely.
Resources:
Tree-shaped plate (new), dinner plates, candlesticks, and vase: MacKenzie-Childs
Table linens and green lowball tumblers: Green Row
Salad plates: Williams-Sonoma
Water glasses: Horchow
Candle bobeches and napkin rings: Leaf 'n Petal
Tea set: Anthropologie

Oh, I wish you some peace this month - life can grab us and overwhelm sometimes, so look for joy when you can! We will all miss Jenna and her great blog posts and I pray for your mom. As for your table, you know I love peeking into your M-C collection. I bought two of the green checked trees - aren't they fabulous? This setting is so pretty. I hope this season brings you some happiness and moments to reflect on happy times!
ReplyDeleteLife is filled with sorrow as well as joy and that is felt keenly at this time of year. In spite of all the difficulties you are experiencing your table is filled with joy. The pieces you have chosen flow together and brought a smile to my face as I read through the Blog. the tablecloth is a beautiful setting for your plate stack and centerpiece. Flowers are so beautiful this time of year. I wish you a peace filled holiday season and wonderful memories of seasons past.

Sweet friend, you have too much on your plate. The loss of our dear Jenna weighs heavily! I'm sad your friend is fighting cancer, and that Finlay is dealing with health issues as well. I know your mom takes much of your time and attention. You are a good daughter!
ReplyDeleteEven with a home remodel going on, you set a gorgeous table! I'm in love with the polka dot tablecloth and napkins. Love a ruffle on a table linen. Of course your dish choice is a favorite and perfect for this table. I always delight in seeing your hutch filled with Taylor, and the Anthropology tea set is adorable. I say, well done, RJ. I can't imagine a more perfect table to celebrate the season. I want to pin every idea. Inquiring minds want to know who makes the linens. Merry, Merry, dear friend. Take care of yourself!
Ricki, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Jenna and I pray for your peace during this time of sorrow. Despite your grief, your table setting is just beautiful. I love your elegant floral arrangement and pretty tablecloth. It's my prayer that you experience comfort and joy this Christmas season. <3
ReplyDeleteI love your centerpiece! I think the roses look just perfect the way that they are, and you’ve done such a nice job by extending it on either side of the vase. Centerpieces are always difficult for me, so I pay close attention to what other people do. I’m also playing close attention to what’s in your hutch behind the table. I am so nosy. I have been peering into everyone’s home this morning. All of the seasonal decorations are really putting me in the holiday mood.
ReplyDeleteHello Friend, it is all lovely, I love, love the tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteI also LOVE the fresh arrangement, but you would have guessed I would love the fresh flowers. ;-)
I feel 2025 has been a difficult year for many of us.
Continuing to pray for you and your family.
Carla
Ricki it broke my heart to hear of Jenna's passing. She was as you said an encourager and always showing us her beautiful art. She and I identified with the loss of husbands and I was thrilled she had HRjr and his children in her life everyday. When she stopped posting...I knew the end was near. Bless you Ricki and I am praying for you and your family. Never, Never apologize for your table styling. I love the simplicity of it and in this time of your life, thrilled that you posted your table despite all the happenings. I've always admired your MC collection and who doesn't love roses especially this time of year. And kudos to Mustang Sally! I love it! My little Jesse James went over the rainbow bridge a year ago...I miss him but he lived to be 20 years old and for a 5 pound white Pomeranian ...that was unusual...so let the photo bombs happen, my friend....and laugh about it. Merry Christmas....🙏🏻🎄🙏🏻❤️ Kari @ Me and My Captain
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, this tablescape is effortlessly chic! Sometimes just one element makes the entire table, but in this case. I feel like both the tablecloth/napkins and tea set are all that. And the tea set isn't even on the actual table, but oh, how I love it! Do tell, is Green Row a small boutique shop in your area where you found the textiles? Love that ruffle edge and pattern, but the neutral tabletop is something I gravitate toward often in my AC neutral cloth. And did you make this loose arrangement? It's gorgeous! I love all the greens.
ReplyDeleteI know the emotional upheaval you're experiencing can be all-consuming, but I am so glad you took the time to share your beautiful talents with us in this Christmas tablescape blog hop. Wishing you peace and joy in the little things, hoping they accrue into a happy and light-filled heart. ❤️🎄
Hello my friend. I love your choice of traditional colors with artistic flair that you do so well. Your table is gorgeous. Wishing you a better week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, I was so saddened to hear of dear Jenna's passing. She was such a talented artist and shared the best recipes. I always said that she should have wrote a cookbook. I always appreciated her gracious comments on my blog. She will be deeply missed.
ReplyDeleteWith everything you are going through I am so thankful that you were able to join us. You need not apologize for your table. It is absolutely beautiful. Your centerpiece is gorgeous, and I am swooning over your table linens. I adore a good ruffle. Sweet friend, take care of yourself. May you have a blessed and peaceful Christmas season.
Your table is lovely Ricki. I hope that putting it together and catching the sight of it every now and then brings a little lightness to your days. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and the other difficult and sad happenings in your life at the moment. I'm sure it's overwhelming. Sending you holiday hugs and prayers my friend.
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, I was so sad and distressed to hear about Jenna’s passing. She was such a kind and creative soul and one I felt I knew, despite never meeting her in person. I’ve missed visiting her posts and her festive tables at these hops. You set a beautiful table despite all the stress of renovation and with the emotional upheaval of your friend’s illness, mom’s decline and furbaby’s surgery. Just one of those factors can do a number on your immune system, so take care of yourself. Take some extra vitamins and stay rested if you can. I always delight in seeing your beautiful collection of colorful ceramics in your hutch. Love the festive addition of the garland and ornaments. Wishing you a Merry December and Christmas. 🎄❤️
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, sweet Jenna will be missed and I will never forget her kindness! You are dealing with many stresses, loss, and your mom’s declining health. You still set a beautiful table, how I love that tablecloth! It was the perfect foundation for the gorgeous centerpiece. I love the Anthro tea set, I haven’t seen it before and the WS salad plates! The photo bombers are adorable. Take care of yourself and wishing you JOY during this season❤️🙏🏻
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, I think we are all saddened for the loss of our dear Jenna, especially you and Emily who had the pleasure of really knowing Jenna in real life. I am also saddled to hear about your dear friend’s health issues. Your sweet fur baby too. That is a lot of stress during this holiday season. Your table is lovely with your prized MKC plates. You created a pretty centerpiece too. Love the tablecloth with its ruffled and evergreen in each corner. The matching napkins are so pretty. I always am amazed at your MKC collections. Take good care of yourself these stressful days. Wishing you a blessed and joyous Christmas.🎄
ReplyDeleteI’m happy to know that you’re still finding joy in the beauty of simplicity, my friend. You have so much going on and I am praying for you. Your tablescape is lovely with your new Christmas tree cornered tablecloth. That was a great purchase to go with your napkins from last year. Of course, I’m in love with your darling tea service. Thank you for sharing the gentleness of the season. ❤️
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, what an amazing tablescape. I love how there is such a combination of playful and whimsy with delicate elegance. First, I adore your polka dot tablecloth with the tree print. It is so unique and really complements the placesetting with each napkin. It really doesn't take away from your playful plate stack and your plates in your cupboard. It actually enhances them even more. Your subtle Christmas embellishments brings the holiday joy to these already joyous and cheerful plates and your houses and tea set. Subtle and delicate yet it all makes a wonderful holiday statement. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteRicki, I am so sorry to hear about all of the heartache you are going through. Life happens and tables can wait. I am glad you could still join us as you fight through some rough times. I am saddened by the loss of Jenna, I always found her uplifting and inspiring. I love your polka dot tablecloth and your beautiful evergreen centerpiece. Your hutch looks wonderful with Anthro tea set and Christmas garland. Be sure to take care of yourself during these difficult times and I wish you a very peaceful Christmas ❤️
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. Simple, yes, but simply elegant. I love the combo of cloth and napkins. I'm heartbroken about Jenna. She was one of my ultimate inspiration people and just wonderful in every way. Thank you for a lovely mention.
ReplyDeleteRicki, it seems many of us have had a tough year, perhaps you more than most. But I'm glad you found a bit of peace in creating a lovely table. And simplicity can be more beautiful than the grandest layout. I love the painterly tablecloth and napkins, the pretty glassware and the fantastic centerpiece artfully arranged. I often forget to include roses in Christmas displays. Jenna is sorely missed. Hope you have a peaceful holiday season.

Ricki Jill, I am so sorry to hear of all the loss, heartache, and upheaval that you are going through. I was devastated to hear of Jenna's passing and her kindness and encouragement will be sorely missed, to say nothing of her many talents. But still, you were able to find joy in setting a lovely table for the blog hop. I think it is simply elegant. The new tablecloth is a delight and the perfect backdrop for your wonderful plate stack and beautiful hutch. I love seeing your wonderful M-C collection, both on the table and in the hutch. The WS salad plates are so pretty and I love the matching napkins and beautiful napkin rings. The centerpiece is truly lovely with all the fresh greens, berries, and white roses in the M-C vase, and the tea set on the hutch is just darling. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous table, and wishing you joy, peace, and happiness in the upcoming season!
ReplyDeleteOh Ricki Jill! I’m sorry you’re going through this sad time. I miss Jenna too, although I wasn’t as close to her as you were. It’s a hard thing to have to handle so much grief, especially when this time of the year is often so happy. I hope that your care is lightened a bit knowing it’s shared by your friends. And through all that, you found time to share some tablescape joy with us. I love your table! The linens and vase set each other off so well, and your centerpiece is lovely! (I love that your dog is in the picture, and love her name! And Finlay too!) Thanks so much for sharing this lovely table. I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful holiday.
ReplyDeleteRicki Jill, I am so sorry for the heartache you are going through. Jenna will certainly be missed. I actually do appreciate your lovely and peaceful evergreen table! I adore how the simplicity and natural touches make it feel so warm and inviting. It's the perfect inspiration for a calm and beautiful holiday gathering. Wishing you peace this holiday season.
