I am really tired of this brass light fixture we inherited from our house's previous owners. I like the number of lights on it, and the shape. I just hate the brass, so I thought about spray painting it! Debbie @ Debbiedoos is hosting a spray painting linky party called Color My World on March 25, but I can't decide which color to paint the light. I want y'all to vote and help me pick the color!

I will be keeping the shades, so keep that in mind. Our walls are painted Benjamin Moore's Golden Straw.
The poll is on the top of my sidebar at the right.
Thanks so much!

If you like rustic, check out Funky Junk Interiors blogspot...she has a cool version of this light. I'm going to make it at Mel's Cabin soon, after I paint a barn quilt and set up a girls bedroom...so many projects keep me motivated and happy!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember what colour your table is and the rest of the furniture in the room, but I if they are the same as your cabinet in the picture then I think white would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI vote for black. Black adds drama to a room and I think the white will make it disappear. I also like aqua, but do you have any black in the room? Every room needs a touch of black.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful light & I love the shades. I'll have to think about which color to vote for, I'm always so bad at making decisions myself.
ReplyDeleteyou could try sponging with ivory acrylic paint (not enamel) but in an irregular manner so that you will be able to glimpse a little of the background which I think calls the brass material of the beads ... if you do not throw it all away like a sponge and a little water...Bacio,Annalisa
ReplyDeleteOoohhh...I think a matte black will really make it pop!
ReplyDeleteI say paint it flat antique white. (I like Valspar's Ice Cream and Porcealin) Then get a bunch of the crystal beaded garlands from the wedding section at Michael's or Hobby Lobby and drape around the fixture--they are wired so they stay in place and are not flammable. Then you can hang even more crystals from the wire! Also, in the jewelry making section, get a package or two of the smallest magnetic jewelry clasps you can find, attach chandelier drops to the clasp, and put more crystals where ever you want on the metal of the fixture! (This only works is the chandy isn't solid brass....) Otherwise you can use a very fine guage jewelry wire to attach more crystals. I'd also change out the shades. Garden ridge has multipacks of chandelier shades for 6 dollars! It wouldn't take a fortune to make this chandy look like one of Rachel Ashwell's!

ReplyDeleteI dare to be different, I'm the only one that has voted "aqua"-or"turqoise", is what I had in mind!..lovely light, shed some on color, hehehe.

I like white. I also like Mikey's ideas to bling it up--sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteThe best part about spraying it is if you paint it one color and don't love it, spray it another color.
Your dining room is beautiful!
Have a great day.
Pam
I think any of those colors would be nice. I choose black so it would go if you decided to change the room/shades later on. New header? Did I miss that post? Looks cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI picked white.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that voter button? I want to paint a brass table...i hate brass too but I want everyone's opinion also.
Love the shades on the light!
Are they MacKenzie-Childs?
I voted for white. I can't wait to see it when it's done. It will be lovely in any of the colors, I suspect. The room is great! I love the shades btw. Super cute! Have a lovely day!

Hi Ricki-Jill~ Oh... I am liking all of your options for your light. The aqua would be a fun pop of color and I love aqua with white - the black would be dramatic and the white would be perfectly shabby lovely!! I guess it depends on what look you are leaning towards! I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices! :)
ReplyDeleteGotta love the white! And your chairs are just amazing, love them!!!!
ReplyDeletebig hugs,
Debra
Just to be different I have recently reverting to liking the look you already have. However if I was going to paint it I would go for matt black!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm outnumbered, I had to vote for the aqua! It would be so unexpected, and when you get tired of it then you can paint it black. I think it will look great any color, though. I did one in red to hang in my booth once, and everyone went crazy over it!
ReplyDeleteHI RICKY I WILL PAINT IT WHITE,I LOVE YOUR TABLE AND YOUR CHAIRS SO CHIC,LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE GOING TO PAINT BRASS BECOUSE I WANT TO PAINT MY OWN LIGTH FIXTURE...HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY...SANDRA
ReplyDeletewhite, it would be nice with your chairs
ReplyDeleteI think white...to match the chairs.
ReplyDeleteI think if you are keeping the shades, then black would be good, what about the gold balls on the shades will you paint those too:)
ReplyDeleteI am sooo voting for aqua or turquoise color! I think it'll make it pop! You can always change it if you don't like it!
ReplyDeletekrylon has an aqua color i am in love with...ocean breeze...gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSorry Ricki, But I'm hopeless when it comes to color. We are painting two rooms that join together and I only got one right! But wanted to mention that Southern Living has a new magazine out on container planting..it is AWESOME...
ReplyDeleteSSincerely,
Shirley
Hi, Ricki, I'm totally voting for aqua for that wonderful pop of color. It looks so great with so many colors. You are the one who has to live with it, so good luck with choosing. Oh wait, it is just paint; if you don't like it, you can repaint!
ReplyDeleteCAS
Hi Ricki! I am not an excellent interior designer, but if I will suggest colors I go for aqua, pink or something that would complement your wall paintings. You chairs and walls are both white. I would suggest you do some color diversity with it.
ReplyDeleteI hope I was able to help.
I voted white but black or turquoise would be fantastic too. Love your new blog header!!!
ReplyDeletehi Ricki, I also have a the brass light fixture in my kitchen and have no idea what to do with it. I will be taking notes from your diy project on your paint change. I love your shades and think most colors would work with those.
ReplyDeleteHave Fun......

Love the shades on the lite and the great slip covers on the chairs. I picked black!
ReplyDeleteMarianne :)
I say a pop of color in all that white! Aqua!!
ReplyDeleteThe shades are adorable and so unique, love it!
I would have to say white. Love your diningroom....sweet.
ReplyDeleteYa know me, I am all about color girl...so do I really need to say AQUA! Oh it would look so cool with those lamp shades too. I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteI like the brass. Very traditional classic, and never goes out of style. But if you must, black.
ReplyDeleteI am adding a new colour... SILVER to paint your light.
ReplyDeletePaint it black first, then silver over and then distress to let a little of the black show through!
It would be really pretty!
I like that your not afraid to paint it in the first place!!!
Happy Spring*

Hi, here from Elements Interiors. I vote for aqua. From your blog header, it looks like you have pops of the color around the house. If you don't like it, simply spray paint it again. That's the thing about spray paint... you can cohabitate before you marry. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a decorative chandy that I paint for the seasons. It has been red, orange, silver and aqua. You can see it on my blog.
Thank you SO MUCH for linking up to WHASSUP WEDNESDAY!!! Great entry:)
ReplyDeleteHope to see you next Wednesday!
