What I Love About You: A Valentine's Day Tag Journal Craft

Thursday, February 8, 2018

Happy Thursday, My Lovelies!  Today I want to share with you another Valentine's Day craft.  This is the last one, I promise!  ;P

This one is also easy.  I based this craft on the movie The Ten Things I Hate About You.  If you haven't seen it, you should.  It's a retelling of The Taming of the Shrew, and toward the end of the movie, Julia Stiles' character tells a smitten Heath Ledger the ten things she loves about him.

I made two: One for each of my daughters.  I made something similar for Mr. Sketchy Reader, but his has less glitter and ribbons; I used a pocket I made from Valentine's Day craft paper and thin strips of paper instead of the luggage tags.

I used a variety of tags, some I bought and some I made.  I embellished a couple of plain ones with stickers.

This is what you'll need for the craft:

6" X 6" Valentine's Day craft paper
luggage tags in various sizes
ribbon and string
scissors
Elmer's glue
glue gun (optional)
Valentine's Day stickers
2 decorative brads
red and black pen
2 large envelopes for giving

Instructions:

Fold a piece of craft paper in half.  Glue the edges together. (I used a hot glue gun, but any glue will work.  Just make sure it dries completely before you slip tags inside.)

Cut out hearts from craft paper and glue them on each side of the pocket as shown

You will need 11 tags for each project.  You can use ready made tags, fancy or plain.  You can also use tags as templates and cut out tags from Valentine's Day craft paper.

On the backs of 10 the tags, write something you love about the person who will receive it.  Place ribbon or string in the holes of the luggage tags as shown.  Once you've written on all 10 tags, stack them according to size with the smallest one on top.

On the last tag, write: "10 Things I Love About You."  Using a small hole punch and brad, attach the tag to the upper right side of one of the hearts.

Lastly, place them in envelopes.

All stacked according to size

The tags are placed inside the pocket.

This is so easy...but I think the girls will love them!

Are you ready for Valentine's Day?  What are your plans?  Are you baking treats or making Valentines?

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill
