Advent: Day 6

Sunday, December 6, 2015

Happy Advent Season, My Lovelies!  This year on my Advent Calendar I want to share Christmas traditions from around the world along with a daily scripture reading.

Do you know what's synonymous with Christmas in Japan?  Kentucky Fried Chicken!  I can't make this stuff up, I promise.

Apparently in the early 1970s, Westerners couldn't find turkeys for the traditional Christmas dinner, and whole chickens were also hard to find....except at KFC!  So the marketing geniuses in Japan ran with it, and now eating a KFC chicken dinner for Christmas is a national tradition.  Folks order their chicken dinners from KFC months in advance.

Luke 2:12-14

12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. Too funny! My son's ex -- who is Chinese -- said KFC is the favorite fast food in China. When they were here a couple of years ago, we got Publix fried chicken for New Year's Day to go with the black eyed peas, etc. A little bitty thing who usually ate like a bird, she put away about half a dozen pieces!
