Advent Day 10

Thursday, December 10, 2015

Happy Advent Season, My Lovelies!  This year on my Advent Calendar I want to share Christmas traditions from around the world along with a daily scripture reading.

Today's tradition is from Iceland, and it's completely crazy.  There is a Christmas Cat that wanders Iceland over Christmas eating anyone who doesn't buy and wear a new piece of clothing on Christmas Eve!  Its name is Jólakötturinn,  and it loves to eat small (apparently disadvantaged) children who don't buy something new for Christmas Eve festivities.  It reminds me of the abuse that poor Ralphie was subjected to in A Christmas Story:

Ralphie!  Don't take off the pink nightmare your Aunt Clara made for you...because if you do, the Jólakötturinn will eat you!

Matthew 2:10-11

10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. We love that movie. We watch it every Thanksgiving after dinner. I do love that little kitty in the Santa hat too!

  2. We love that movie too. Oh the humiliation for poor Ralphie in that pink suit.
