Independence Day Party

Thursday, July 2, 2015

Hello, My Lovelies!  I've been working on some projects around here, but the biggest one is helping my daughter.  She had a month between graduation and her job, so she wrote a romance novel.....and it's being published!  Congratulations, Shanley Belle!

I've been helping her edit her novel before she submitted the entire book to the publisher, and I've been helping her set-up a blog and social media.  So between helping Shanley and my two art classes this summer, I've had little time for reading. cooking, blogging, or gardening.

But I did have a little Independence Day party (pre-party, really).

We kept it informal and in the breakfast room due to the afternoon thunder showers we've been experiencing.

Resources:

Everything on the table is from Pier1 except:
Ceramic tumblers:  An Angel at My Table
Berry basket, dessert plates, Molly Hatch vase:  Anthropologie
Westie salt and pepper shakers:  The Church Mouse
Polish condiment servers:  One Kings Lane
Candle holder:  Pottery Barn
Vintage Wedgwood China in Rosedale pattern

Ha!  I just realized that our silverware was in a caddy on the breakfast bar.  I can assure you we didn't eat with our hands!  ;P

For dessert, the simplest blackberry cobbler, ever!  I have a goal to memorize 10 dessert recipes. Here's one of them:

Easy Blackberry Cobbler

Easy Blackberry Cobbler

Ingredients:
4 cups blackberries
Juice of one lemon
1 cup sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1 large egg (the larger the better)
6 T melted butter

Procedure:

Preheat oven to 375.

Lightly grease a small 8 X 8 inch casserole dish.  Place blackberries inside dish.  Liberally squeeze the juice of one lemon all over the blackberries.

In a medium bowl, mix together sugar, flour, and egg until it resembles coarse meal.  Spread on top of berries.

Drizzle melted butter on top of four mixture.

Bake for 30 - 40 minutes until lightly browned.  Let cool for fifteen minutes before serving.  Best served with fresh whipped cream!

Now for the men in your life.....If you want to make them happy, make them Bacon Bombs!!!

Bacon Bombs

Note:  The recipe calls for around a pound of ground beef. Below is the video.  it is simple and delicious!  I used Stonewall Kitchen's Maple Chipotle Grill Sauce.

Happy Independence Day, America!

Until next time..

Blessings!
