New Year's Day Brunch

Friday, January 2, 2015

Happy 2015, My Lovelies!  I wanted to share with you our New Year's Day brunch.  I wish all of you could have come over for some Southern comfort food and visited for a little bit, but I guess my sharing with you our menu and photos will have to suffice.

MENU:

Beef and baby potato stew
Collard greens
Black eye pea hummus
Southwest dip
Cracker assortment
Mimosas
Winter white cupcakes

The Winter White cupcake recipe is from Tutti Dolci.  The post truly inspired the whole theme of the day!

Our sunny day quickly turned cloudy, so I'm sorry that several of the photos are dark.

There is nothing new on the table, with the exception of an Anthropologie candle and the vintage Christmas ornaments hanging from the chandelier.  If you have any questions about the tablescape, please email me or leave a comment!

This year I will not write an end of the year post about 2014.  For once in my life, I'm looking ahead.  But I've enjoyed reading several of your best-of posts!

I'm still trying to decide what exactly I want to do with my blog.  I would like for it to be a bit more focused in 2015, and I would really appreciate any and all suggestions.  (*hint, hint*)  ;P

It is another yucky rainy day here, and we've decided to make some hot tea and watch movies.  Mr. art @ Home needs to come home to build a fire.  He's the best at building them!

Until next time…

Happy New Year!
Ricki Jill

  1. You make the best dinners for your family! They are delicious and beautiful all at the same time. When you live with men only...all they care about is getting it in mass quantities and quickly. :)

  2. Like you, I am looking forward and not looking back.

I love the beautiful napkins with the gorgeous napkin rings. And, the beautiful glittery star is so fun.

  3. All your pretties set a lovely New Years Day brunch table Ricki Jill. I love the snowflake tableclothe and candles and the napkin rings are gorgeous! I love how you dressed the chandy too. I enjoyed seeing the portraits of the girls in the background, so beautiful.
Another wet, dark and dreary day. Only good for putting the Christamas decorations away.

  5. I like the moody tones that the cloudy days give the photos. I am going to check out the cupcake recipe next. The table is lovely and the menu sounds wonderful.

I am also going to have some big blog changes this year -- perhaps taking my blog private.

  10. Love the table setting RJ! I love the labels you put in the little ornaments to mark the dish. Such a great idea.
I'm certainly the wrong person to give advice on blogging because I have hardly changed anything for all the time I have done it. I know I should, but just don't know where to start :)
    hugs from here...
