Friday Confessional: Retail Therapy and Procrastination

Friday, May 10, 2013

M'dear bloggy friends....I have lots to confess this week....especially since I missed last week!  :/
I confess...
I confess that I could so get used to retail therapy.  It really is therapeutic. But I've been bad.  Very.  Bad!
I bought two books at FULL RETAIL PRICE from Anthropologie the other day like and *idiot*
But I couldn't help it!  They looked so *pretty* displayed in the store.  Usually I only buy books using a discount or a rewards program at our local indie bookstore....  *sighs*

I bought A Perfect Day for a Picnic by Tori French and The Little Paris Kitchen by Rachel Khoo.

I also bought these adorable little bowls from An Angel at My Table.  LOVE that online store!

I confess...

I confess that I finally need glasses but not for reading.  Apparently I have super spidey-eyes up close...I can read the fine print on anything.  I just can't see at a distance.  I need glasses to drive!  Oh, no!  I've been a menace on the highways without even knowing it.  Here are my new glasses:

Mine are very similar to these, but mine are tortoise shell.  Sales of Vera Bradley eyeglass frames support the Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation.

I confess...

I confess that I finally for the first time *ever* made red beans and rice with celery.

The holy trinity of red beans:  celery, peppers, and onions

Watch for a red beans and rice tutorial within the next week or two!

I confess...

I confess that I finally finished the art gallery in the dining room.  But I haven't posted about it yet.... We have been ridiculously busy lately...the end of the school year is too stressful!

One of my favorite home gallery pins

I confess...

I confess that I still haven't planted our containers yet.  Plus I don't even have a plan.  Yet.  But I do have a great container garden board on Pinterest!

I really like the pale caladiums in this container!

I confess...

I confess that I should know better than to get a cool red in my hair.  It never lasts!  Next time it's warmer tones for me!

Too cool and too short

What do you have to confess this afternoon?

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. Hi Ricki Jill,
Oh yes, I can see the book purchase. To see an incredible book is like falling in love or at least having a crush and only holding it and bringing it home can satisfy you. I wish I had them. Enjoy. I confess I have book envy.

  2. Love those sweet bowls. That shop looks dangerous. I just clicked the link to take a peek...and have already mentally spent hundreds. ;o)
I like your hair that length. Looks easy to care for.

  8. Ah, but the point of hair is to have fun with it, as it always grows back/out! Best of luck getting the containers done (my Pinterest boards signal an ability to complete tasks that I don't possess....*sigh*). Those look like nice coffee table books, and you can always appease your guilt by donating them to the library when you're done with them. ;)
I'm looking forward to that red beans and rice tutorial- very Nawlins of you! :D

  11. I understand how you feel about the books. I always order mine in at the library and if I'm really in love with it, then I order it off of Amazon at a cheap price. :)
    I confess....
that I am secretly reading blogs but not commenting.
I confess... I'm getting a lot done while on my blog break!
I confess... that it feels good to take break for a bit.
    I confess....
I broke my diet and ate a cherry turnover for breakfast!

  13. Hi Ricki! It's been a while since I last visited your blog. I've been offline and lately so I missed a lot in the blogosphere :)

I love your red hair!!! If I was given a fairer complexion, I would surely get one :) As for the retail therapy, the shopaholic me can perfectly understand your sentiments haha

I'm excited to see your own art gallery at home.

    Happy Mother's Day!

PS I love the new look of your blog

Love your new header. Hope your Mother's Day was wonderful. I love the coleus in the pot with the calladium. I guess I had not seen a picture of you before, I thought you were a blonde! :-) As a fellow red head (by birth) I like your color and cut!
