My Happy List: Pie in the Sky!

I only have one thing on My Happy List this week.  But before you read any further, please play the Frank Sinatra video and enjoy the song while you read this post!

My Happy List

1.  Baking pies makes Mr. Art @ Home me happy!  :/

Mr. Art @ Home requested pie.  I thought it would be fun to make mini pies, but it is much harder than I thought.  I used a pie mold for the pies below, and the edges burned.

These are strawberry-rhubarb pies.  They taste better than they look.  :/

Mr. Art @ Home bought himself me a little gift.

So I got some ingredients together to make more pies.

P1040231

Ingredients for some of my experimental pies.

The first batch of strawberry-rhubard pies were burned.  Epic.  Failure.  :(

The next batch of lemon pies were not much better.  Nope.

P1040233

These lemon pies fell apart.  Some of them are missing bottoms!

But just like that little 'ole ant, I have high hopes.  Yes, I do!  I kept on trying....and I bought a book.

This book truly helped.  :D

By the fifth batch, I had little pies that look like this:

P1040237

P1040241

They are mixed berry pies (raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries).  I served them with powdered sugar, whipped cream and fresh berries.

P1040240

These pies did not break apart like the others.  *squee*

Mission.  Accomplished.  I want to try some savory pies next.  Then I would like to bake some gluten free pies so I can enjoy Mr. Art @ Home's my gift.

What is making you happy this week?  Join Mamarazzi @ Dandelion Wishes, and share your happy!

Until next time...

Blessings!

  1. Baking makes me happy too! Your heart-shaped pies are so cute and I think they look wonderful and yummy too. I'm glad you got the hang of the pie making machine. Now you will always have perfect little mini pies.

Thanks for sharing a very young Sinatra!

  2. My sister has a mini pie making machine. Not sure she's used it. But oh now, do I have some craving for strawberry rhubarb. That seriously is one of my favorites. Yummy yummy.

  5. The little pies look wonderful! I love pie crust and I believe the little pies will give me more of that than larger pies. :)

  6. Oh but those heart ones are so cute. What a nifty machine. I have never seen one of those before. I never make pies as my MIL is the pie maker but I may have to learn one day.

  7. They all look wonderful to me. I actually like your first, heart-shaped pies the best. Charming.

  8. They all look delicious! Is there different inserts like hearts and rounds? I guess it's best to buy the recipe book if you are buying the pie maker...What was different? Was the crust supposed to be thicker or was the recipe different all together?
I LIKED your heart ones BEST!!!
Yes making small pies is LOTS more work!
Thank you for sharing this. NOW I KNOW about the maker
    Have a wonderful week,
    Hugs

  10. WOW. I'm impressed and drooling. My father can never know that this invention exists, or he will end up 100 pounds overweight. For that matter, so would I! Do share any gluten-free recipes for mini pies that you succeed with- and have fun! :D

  13. Great job on the pies! Even though the first couple of batches weren't as beautiful as the last ones, I bet they tasted pretty good.

    Have a great day.
