Updating Our Succulent Pots

Thursday, October 20, 2011

I am quickly running through my list of chores this week.  Yay!  One chore I completed is switching out hot weather succulents for cold weather succulents.  I am anxious to see if the cold weather varieties hold up as well here in Alabama as the hot weather ones did.  Hens and chicks are supposed to do really well in the cold.  I guess we'll see if that's true!

  1. Hi Ricki
    Your greenery is gorgeous!
I wish we had some green around here.
Oh, I will walk past my dry cleaning pile for the 100th time today and think, I really need to drop that off. lol
I haven't had coffee yet, so my blood is not flowing enough to think of chores yet.

  2. Wow! These are looking so good! Very well arranged. Soon I will have to start our lunch here in Jamaica. Take care and have a good day.

  3. Your pots are just beautiful, Ricki! I have never owned a succulent...although I think my jade plant at the lake is considered one...not sure.

I have some serious laundry to get done today. It is still rainy and cold so I guess this is the thing to do!! Enjoy your day!

    XO,

  4. We live in Central New York and most of the hens and chicks come back each year...just a couple of casualties here and there! My grandmother has them like groundcover at her house nearby! I have some mixed in with other succulents in some planters and hope for the best each winter. Although it isn't SO bad to have to buy a couple of new ones each spring to fill in here and there. Yours are just beautiful arrangements!

  5. Laundry for me Ricki! That and keeping my sanity, my cousin and her two kids are here. Her 2 year old is a bit on the rambunctous side. Your pot looks great, I don't think it would work here in VA though.

  6. Nothing! I feel like I can't get anything done, nothing checked off my list. It's so frustrating.

  8. Hi sweetie, those succulents looks wonderful. My list is as long as my leg...but I did get a few things done today, laundry and misc chores, worked on a photo collage for my Saturday post. Spent 9 hours in front of PC doing various promotions, etc...far to much time sitting on my bum, but hoping all the work will result in some sales. xo P.S. thank you for linking up at The Thursday Favorite Things Hop

  9. Your succulents look so happy even after such a dry, hot summer. I just asked my son this afternoon if he'd come over one of these days and help me put away the deck furniture. He's in his own apt. now and I miss his muscles! I've been working on organizing my studio space too. Can you say "fabric hoarder?" That would be me!!

  10. I love the plant combinations that you've chosen for your succulent containers.

My Hens and Chicks have lived for years and years in the same pot and were transplanted from my grandmother's yard where they also lived for years and years. I think yours will survive just fine.

  11. Really...cold weather succulents? It would be wonderful to have something other than pansies that survived in outdoor pots through the winter. Which ones are your trying?
I'm trying to catch up on some details for our bath remodel...it is taking sooo long just to pick out the fixtures & tile!!!

  12. Those succulents look fantastic! I never did try any outside this year...maybe next. What did you do with the warm weather varieties that you switched out. I wonder if there is anything that can take the cold here in Oklahoma. I'm so envious of the succulent gardens I see photos of from California.
